Well I went to shut the chooks in at 4.30 on Thurs and they were all up and complaining it was too light to go to bed Mum.
Its definately staying lighter later, but one minute its light, ten minutes later its dark. Walking across town at 10 to 5 tonight and it was light, dull but still daylight

I believe we get an extra 2min of daylight each day. Which means that since the 21st of Dec we should now be getting an extra 50 minutes of daylight give or take a few minutes. It may not seem like it due to the weather conditions. Still at least we are going in the right direction.

i think the snow gave the feeling of being lighter - even when it was technically dark there was so much snow around it reflected any bit of light there was....spring is just around the corner folks!!

I go to yoga once a week at 4.15 and get back at 6-15.
It's been easy enough to put the chooks to bed up until now because they've hung around the coop out of the snow, and a bowl of porridge has got them all in. I think tomorrow it is going to be more difficult as they don't seem to want to go in now until 5.30 ( don't like leaving them out in the pitch dark!!)
Ah well- another 2 or 3 weeks and it'll be 6.15 and I'll be happy again!!!

OMG!!!!..I've just realised 2 weeks tomorrow and it'll be February!!!

Next weekend we'll both be getting nearly an extra 10 mins at each end of the day

For all the gloomy weather we are turning slowly towards the sun and spring will soon be springing in the hedge bottoms. Snowdrops are up, if not out, and the pair of Great Northern Divers which nest around here each year are back in the harbour. I'm looking forward to the midnight sun again.

I love it when the days start to draw out you can feel that Spring is coming it is a really exciting time of year.
My daffodils are already poking their heads up in the front garden they are six-seven inches up already. There are buds on the flowering fruit trees on the village green too. Roll on Spring.

Maybe we need to dance round a big bonfire to bring the sun back
Ill come and dance arround your bonfire. We still have snow on our back garden and it would be a great way to warm up those knees!

Definitely noticed the lighter nights, today I didn't have to put the lights on until 4.40pm. Now the snow has cleared I can also see quite a few of the shrubs in the garden are showing definite signs of life, it certainly lifts the spirits, the downside is that I can also see how much tidying up I need to do.
