How wonderful, Brengirl. Mexico - not just sunshine but a totally different culture. OH was there about ten years ago and would go back like a shot if the lottery turned up trumps. The spirit of adventure is what keeps us young.

We had more or less decided that our travelling days were over. This time last year we went to the Cape Verde Islands. OH was not too well and I thought well maybe long haul was getting a bit too much for us. We used to follow the English cricket test matches eg Australia/Sth Africa and Sri Lanka but that lost its appeal. Mexico has always been on my wish list so when just browsing, as you do, I saw this late deal. I can make decisions easily but did notice my other half go a distinct shade of pale.

I was in Mexico in August, for son's first-stage wedding (they have to marry in an English registry office for it to count here). Incredibly lovely place, with mountains in the middle of the city! (well it's all on a mountain, but mostly flat with a few bits sticking up further)

Brengil, go to all to places you want to see before you feel too old to do it.
Me and my hubby were just discussing that very thing recently. We have seen quite a bit of the world due in some part to the job he had in the latter years in his job. I would love to visit some of them again but the thought of sitting on a plane all day doesn't appeal to me any more and I find myself now looking at European holidays rather than world wide.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Me and him have been really fortunate where holidays are concerned. We have been to so many places worldwide I have lost count. We tend to veer to the east and have never visited the America's. Hence this trip. We started our annual holidays doing the usual France/Spain/Greek Islands etc. but, I am ashamed to admit, I got bored with the 'touristy bit'. Once we sort of became travellers the fun really started. Arranging your own itinerary is such an exciting challenge. On reflection it is sometimes the real scary mishaps that leave the greatest impression. 2008 for example we were involved in train derail in Sri Lanka. Missed the connecting flight to Thailand etc. etc.
Mentally I will never be too old for adventure. Physically, so far OK, but for how long?
You Bramble, are still a babe. Just pack your bags and go.
