I am probably in a minority here, but have to come out and admit - I cant stand Jane Austin's works.
Its not that I have not tried to read them, (I have read four- P&P, S&S Emma and Mansfield Park, ) I just dont like the characters and themes. I always prided myself on being very well read too, but am I missing something???!!

Has to be Colin Firth for me too. Any scene he's in will do! I have this fantasy that if I ever won the lottery, I'd pay him loadsamoney to come and dig over my allotment wearing that wet shirt!

I've got Matthew Macfadyen on at the moment, and he's just not doing it for me

OH COLIN! swoon swooon!!! Husband bought me the Matthew version on DVD, not impressed as it was birthday present. I really liked him in Spooks but he is just ruined by the presence of Kiera "stick insect" Knighly in it - I cannot bear her.

Colin FIRTH is lovely and even lovelier in real life - my ex sat next to him at a football match and felt sorry for him as all women were staring at him. He coped with it graciously, Colin not ex... then went out to the same dinner with him. No autograph, no photo - umm I wonder why he is the ex........

Great thread - just what I need after a s**t 7 days at work!

It's gotta be Colin Firth, but in the interest of fairness I'm prepared to try out Matthew McF too

It just has to be Colin Firth, no one else could play the part quite as good as him, he's a real gentleman and he's very yummy.

Although I voted for our Colin, I have to confess, like Kirsty B, I nearly picked Matthew McF- I expected him to show up as a lesser mortal after CF's performance but he did bring a certain Je ne sais quoi to Darcy - I just couldn't take to Keira Knightley's Lizzy!
