My company keeps restructuring and reducing staff levels too. I went into the local offices this morning on a rare visit and had to walk all the way through the building. When I was based there it held around 1000 people. today I saw 2

OH's job is attached to the building industry, he was only saying last night its always exceptionally quiet, they all took a 10% wage cut in October to help the company, that's under review at the end off this month, according to the guy who owns the company its made a good prophet, so they should be getting there 10% back plus wages back to what they were before the cut, it was only a short term thing.
So I've got my fingers crossed for you Wayne and hope things pick up for you soon.

It'll be another year before things start pulling around, I think there'll be a bit of a high after the election and then a slump toward the end of the Summer...........

Sorry to read your news, Wayne. Still, I'm sure the people celebrating their £100,000+ bonuses in the City will sleep well...

Take care, big guy. Hope you're right and that you are safe.

Eeeh, lad. It must be a very worrying time for you and yours. I havent read any of the other posts, just ploughed straight in, as usual - if you are feeling threatened, why not look for summot else while you are still in a job?

It's no better being self-employed! We are still getting SOME survey work, but averaging 3 days a week, and pay-per-job is less than 3 quarters of pre-recession (we quote, then the client decides whether to employ us) while costs are at least as much. If it gets much worse we will have to sell the house, move to Spain permanently, and find some way to earn enough for what we can't produce for ourselves.
