Well if you're still at the North pole you might have some polar bears for company but if you're now at the south pole you're in the company of penguins

You grapes are too smart for me.
Logic suggests you'll be a mile west of your original starting position, but at the north pole; travelling west is not a straight line as west keeps on changing as you travel. So your path creates a segment of a circle which has a radius of 1 mile and includes 1 mile of the circumference.
