I think this is your computer telling you not to bother. Have just clicked on it and it looks a strange rather patronising site to making you the perfect housewife type person. There's a thing which tells you to do a new things each day called the baby steps which is kind of a reasonable idea although I wasn't doing well when it told me to polish my sink on day one and to "Get dressed to lace up shoes" on day two. Have absolutely no idea what this means and decided it all wasn't for me

I suppose it's whatever floats your boat, but as far as housework goes my motto has always been clean out the corners and let the middle take care of itself, I wouldn't have connected that with finally loving myself.

I actually liked the idea of cleaning the sink before bed so you have a nice shiny one to get up to; but I did get put off with the 'loving yourself' stuff. I can see how some of it would be motivating, but writing down what the negative voices are saying and stuff isn't my bag.

I'd rather it just say something like "Go and clean the oven. Just go and do it."

I'm not saying I'd listen, mind.

Since my boy was born, our life was upside down. And it's only now that he learned how to sleep through the night (at 18 months! of age), so neither of us had strength after work to do anything, and the dirt got worse and worse and worse....

Both my hubby and I we also study for our chartership, I had an exam only yesterday again, so time is precious.

And this might sound strange, but I didn't know where to start or how to make the best of my limited time with biggest impact on the house.

I can imagine how someone might feel the site is patronising, but so far it's been quite enlightening for me.

I have made my sink shiny every night, and it is such a motivator in the morning. Cooking at night is double the speed now, because I don't have to wash my cooking utensils before I can start preparing the food.

And somehow slowly the shiny sink has influenced the rest of the house.
I think what I took out of the site is, that you do not need to clean hours to get something sorted, but if you spend 30s on a surface and clean it every night with a wipe-down, then you don't need to scrub it for 30mins trying to get all the dried in stuff out.
I know this is obvious stuff, but I only see the benefits of it now.

How sad am I? And before you are concerned, no my house is not dirty, it's just cluttered... and improving continuously.

Tiachia, I'm so sorry I didn't respond to your post earlier - I should have said, go for it girl! I know how hard it can get (although my circumstances are very different to yours) and it is important to get some kind of system going for oneself. I have tried all sorts of methods and books - as well as a series of rather expensive cleaners. If you have found one that works for you, please ignore all comments from people who haven't made that method work for them. This time of year is just the right time for starting something new. Just remember that after 20 tries at a new thing turns it into a good habit!
Keep us informed how you are getting on, and don't let anyone else make you feel that it isn't worth doing!

No probs with that, if it works for you then that's really great - maybe you can tell me what the hell "Get dressed to lace up shoes" on day 2 actually means

That's what I took it to mean - take the effort to get properly dressed rather than just a pair of trackies and slip on shoes/slippers.
I'm not overly keen on the way it's written, it's very American, but... The principles behind it are sound I Think, and one day I might get round to giving it a go. When the kids leave home maybe

It means to make an effort to get yourself dressed every day and not lounge in pyjamas from early morning till bedtime.

Well... that one didn't apply for me... I am a full-time working mum.
