Has to be david t for me, but thats because of the whole package including some great assistants. Donna was my fave and heartbreaking. Plus love bernard cribbins!!! Old time doctor , well cant decide between john pertwee and tom baker. Tom baker 1s the one i remember best. John Simm is a fantastic master too, although I didnt like how he evolved in the last episode, flying and all that! Took it too far for me! But I loved his early "madness"/obsession. My OH has a signed black and white photo of the original master but I cant remember his name? We try and impress our 7 yaer with it! (sad I know!) He was given a tom baker dvd for christmas which was really amusing, although Im sure it was scary at the time! Alien robots dressed in 1970s white lycra, complete with silver foil wigs, for those that remember very "imagination"!!
Have to admit I am looking forward to a new doctor, as I started to get a little fed of seeing david tenant everywhere!

Having said all that,I have to put an extra star on David Tennant's score board - my nephew is a huge Dr Who fan and as a surprise for his tenth birthday, I wrote to Tennant and asked him if he would sign a Dr Who card for his birthday, as I knew my nephew would be blown away by it. He not only signed the card but sent him a personalised signed photo too AND sent it back in less than a week.
      Such a nice guy!

'Jacky', the original 'Master' was Roger Delgado. When he passed on/regenerated, the replacement was Anthony Ainley. Pics are here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Master_(Doctor_Who).
My fave? Used to be Tom B, now it's deffo DT!! OH disagrees, he says it can only be Pertwee. I was never keen on SMcC or Peter Davison, and the new one has really got to go some to beat DT!!

I seem to be in agreement with many others. Loved Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker from childhoold, outgrew the series with the following doctors and while I loved Christopher Ecclestone, David Tennant took the role to a whole new audience. I will reserve judgement on the new guy

Jon Pertwee will always be Dr Who in my eye's, but David Tennant rocked my boat...I too gushed at the end when he said "I don't want to go", but I'm enjoying all the re runs on BBC3, hurray for re runs.
Loved Donna Noble's character. But what about Capt Jack...YUMMY or what????

I have to say it is a toss up between Jon Pertwee and David Tennant, both made the part their own. the less said about the Sylvester character the better, i think it put me off watching Dr Who for years

Definately Tom Baker as I grew up with him as the doctor and I think that sort of thing stays with you, bit like James Bond, Roger Moore for me !! Also I think that the episodes were scarier back then, I too remember closing my eyes at the scary bits, something I judt don't get from the newer episodes and neither do my kids, however they just laugh at the old sets and monsters

Christopher Eccleston I thought was going to be great but over too soon and Tennant was also good but not keen on the plots I'm afraid. Just my two penneth !

I have vague memories of John Purtwee, who I would definately rate as a great Doctor. (Loved his Wurzel head tricks too.) Hated Tom Baker - he put me off the show for years and didn't watch Sylvester as a result. Without a doubt David Tennant reignited my passion for the show and fitted the part to a tee.

In the toss between John and David, David wins it for me. Purely on sex appeal though!

William Hartnell was great, loved John Pertwee, not keen on Peter Davidson or Sylvester McCoy. Tom Baker was a bit too mad for me, but played the part well.
Letched over David Tennant till my OH told me off Its the humour that does it for me, and the big eyes!
And yes Capn Jack is mmmm, pity hes gay
Didnt mind the daleks but hid behind the settee for the cybermen when I was little, thankfully grown out of that now.

Talking of Capn Jack, did you like Torchwood too? Yes for me n OH, no for my mate

I loved David Tennant (& Capt. Jack/Torchwood too!) & he's my favourite but I do have a soft spot for Jon Pertwee from my youth too!

Odd how no-one has mentioned COLIN Baker. I really didn't like him AT ALL.
Hartnell was excellent, Pertwee was good, so was TOM Baker, and I quite liked Davidson, not least because he asked for opinions as to how he should play the part, and then took notice. I only watched the odd few McCoy, (not bad, not particularly good) and not really watched at all since then (got some even-sillier-than-usual plots, which put me off and never went back).
Oh not to forget the SECOND Doctor (except I've forgotten his name). Did a good job with a tough act to follow!
How many have we had now? the limit is 12!
