EBay does about turn............

I stopped selling lots of books when eBay initiated their 'Free Postage' for all books regime. Myself and many others deserted them because of their restrictive policies.

Guess what..............eBay have just realised this and decided to return to a maximum postage regime which seemed to work well.

As it happens I've just listed a monster of a book with the necessary free postage for 1 penny start and �9.00 buy it now. Someone has bid a penny, knocking off the BIN so theoretically I could be selling a book for one penny that will cost me round about a fiver to send!

Anyway, from 8th Feb this inequality will cease...........Halleluja!!!!!!!!!

I dont sell books on Ebay anymore either Snadger, partially cos of this stupid free postage and partially because I seemed to loose so much money in fees for this and fees for that. I still sell the odd DVD but the postage price is fairly standard for them.

I would really recommend giving Amazon ago - no fees, you dont have to load pics or do item descriptions and they tell you in advance what fee you'll pay, so no hidden charges...

Yes, I saw the withdrawal of the Free Postage notice. Thank goodness for common sense.

They've also extended their "no listing fee" on media until 7 Feb, so I'm going to list some old CDs and books this week

Thats good news Snadger. I read your post a while ago about Amazon, and find they are still best for selling books.

I would really recommend giving Amazon ago - no fees, you dont have to load pics or do item descriptions and they tell you in advance what fee you'll pay, so no hidden charges...

The majority of the type of books I sell are antiquarian..........old books, and I'm not sure their would be a market for them on Amazon........

I still sold books on ebay. I got around the free postage thing by marking them down as currier and then putting the postage price in the ad. I still managed to get the postage back and didnt lose out.
It is great news though because it will mean that I can just put them on and wait as I had to keep emailing people who couldnt be bothered to read the ad fully and still asked the postage price!
