A red ford fiesta, payed £400 for it in 1995 and sold it a year later for £450. I was so proud cos I had a car of my own.

I didn't live anywhere long enough to take my driving test until I was well in my thirties (Army life). My first car was an ex-Police mini (I named him Frew) which had been painted black and had a vinyl roof. It had a long gear stick and the door "handles" were what I can only describe as a pice of black cable. I had to learn to hold the clutch on the "bite" very quickly when I stopped at junctions etc., as the handbrake didn't work every time.

After various bits had fallen off and my ex had patched the car up with tons of fibre glass, Frew finally died completely and I had to leave him behind in Bolton.

My next car was a Skoda two door (I called him Cwis - the reg was CWS) and I ran him into the ground - he's still going strong now helping with apple picking in Herefordshire!

Have you noticed that some of us have girls cars and some have boy cars? I only have boy cars - more pliable - oops, meant reliable

my first one was a Triumph Herald, a lovely purple colour! that I got in 1987 for £25 from an old fella down the road, he said the clutch needed replacing but all we did was top it up with clutch fluid and bingo, worked like a dream. it was a real collectors car, I remember driving to Fowey and hearing a funny scrapeing sound which suddenly stopped, looking in the mirror I saw the whole back bumper lying in the road.

I sold it to a guy at a petrol station, he asked me if it was mine and was it for sale, he then offered me £500 for it before I could answer, i thought about it for a millisecond and shook his hand, he even paid for the petrol I had just put in it and gave me a lift home.

a white Morris 1000 convertible. The roof leaked, the heater didn't work and the steering was sloppy, but oh I did love her!

My first car was an R reg Ford Escort estate, 1976 I think
I learned a lot about car maintenance on it, and I maintained the mechanical parts as well as I could, but the rust finally got to it. I looked into turning it into a kit car ( existing mechanicals into a new fibre glass body) but as I didn't have a garage it wasn't possible

My first car was a mini which my ex and my brother did up for me, i had it re painted in rose pink with a white roof, she was lovely my little Rosie. I loved that little car.
Registration was EOH 340L fab classic mini.
Cemented my love of minis, had two other classic minis after that one a mini 35 the other a mini sprite. I now drive a Mini One and the love affair continues, hoping to get a new clubman next but i will never forget my lovely little pink mini she was special.

                      Oh.............My................God!

                      I forgot. Clean forgot!

My dad bought me an S reg (1977) Vauxhall Chevette saloon when I was 16. I used to help my dad out fixing cars in the garage at the bottom of the garden. He bought it for me, resprayed it and said I could have it. One day I was being a numpty and showing off reversing into the garage when I heard a "screeeetch" as I scraped the nearside rear wheel arch against the wall and took a chunk out of the wheel arch.

                      I went white I'm sure.

I quickly set about mixing up some filler and filled the whole, sanded it down and "prepped" it ready for painting. I had to fess up to dad as soon as he got in from work as I couldn't do the spraying myself. Luckily he said - "actually son you've done a pretty good job of prepping, you've been paying attention" he wasn't mad, but I never drove that car again (I had to sell it for financial reasons).

Can't believe I forgot about it!

My first car was also a Vauxhall Chevette (aka 'The Shove It') It was blue and had belonged to my grandma until she decided to give up driving. It had low profile wheels fitted... all the better for her to drive away with the handbrake on I suppose!

Mine was an M reg Fiesta, which was great most of the time, but needed lots of expensive repairs in the few months we had it. The engine eventually caught fire while I was driving on the M6! It got scrapped after that and we bought a sensible family car instead.

Now there is nothing wrong with the BMW version, except that it isn't a proper MINI! (I feel much the same about the 'new improved' Beetle, nice car, but not the real thing).

A 1994 metalic blue Ford Fiesta. The best car I every had. I loved her to bits! Renovated my little cottage with her help. She carried slates, and all types of heavy building materials on many trips right across the country, and never flinched. I driven many different types of cars, but I still buy Fiestas for myself.
