Clove Rock and bulls Eyes. Oh, and Cleeves toffee. We used to buy it by the square when coming home from school. Each square cost a 1/2 penny. It would last all the way home.

And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.
Rhubarb and Custards are my favourite - there's a small shop here that still has all the old sweets in big glass jars. Mind you the new range of Shetland Fudge is just heavenly - ate rather a lot of it over Christmas!

I'm a choccy girl rather than sweeties - as is Dexter the dog! (I'm a cruel mum he's only allowed the smallest of pieces as it's not good for him!) DDL

Appreciate the little things in life because one day you will realise they are the big things
I also a choc girl, but used to love a sweet my nan always got for me.It was like a barley suger stick, but it was made of hard toffee with choc through the centre.Haven't seen any for years.Love any sweets with aniseed taste.Black jacks used to be a favorite.
We lived in the sticks - and I mean the sticks. There was no sweetie shop. Well actually, there was no shop within 20 miles. And my mother did not approve of sweets. They would rot your teeth and give you bad skin - and that was just if you looked at them. But , treat of treats, on a Saturday afternoon, we got a bar of McGowans Highland Toffee (cost 3d = 1.25p) between 4 of us. A whole 2 squares each. Then because we had ruined our appetites by eating sweets all day it was brown bread and fruit for Saturday night tea.
What sweets do I like now ? None. Never acquired the taste . Guess I had a deprived childhood.

Oh Alice, you poor thing! A friend of mine is Scottish and her mother was extremely like that (she still is actually!) When visiting her grandchildren some years ago, offered them half a biscuit each when they came home from school.
We were allowed some boiled sweeties on Friday when I was little, but as soon as I went to school in town (and there was a sweetie shop) I started finding all sorts that I liked. Probably explains why I'm overweight now!
Do you remember those great big "Fizz Bombs" I used to love Space Dust too, along with "Nutty Bars" "Texans" and of course Spangles. Ohh I can see them now.
Recently I have a fetish for Sports Gums and Maynards, Yes only Maynards Wine Gums, Lovely eaten with a pint of milk to wash them down with
Madderbat, you're friends mother is a total backslider. Half a biscuit when you come home from school ! Is she trying to destroy those children all together.
