    Getting massacred......................

We wont go out on the night, I have got sick of being asked to leave by a certain time (double sittings) and then being told it's our special valentines menu - yeah right - I worked in an old, beautiful and posh hotel, I know how these things work.....they work their menu to fit in with bums on seats, quick turn around- more in, more out method. Its always a reduced menu, though they call this the "special Valentines menu"- They keep it simple (more in, more out again!)
So we will wait, maybe a romantic candle lit carpet feast of cheeses and a lovely wine on the night! cards and little gifts, hugs and kisses.
I love it, I love all the 'traditions' just dont like being ripped off or duped with- its "our special Valentines package" and we need the table back by 8pm! - takes away the romance somewhat

Nothing, all to commercial. I tend to buy my wife flowers at random times anyway, I dont want to pay triple price on a certain day of the year.

Oh dear. You seem such a loving lot makes me wonder what I have missed. Never had a Valentines card (except in schooldays).
When we were first married I did buy cards for OH but unfortunately he is not the romantic type so the day now passes without even a loving glance or kiss. The only time I am ever wined and dined is when I make all the arrangements and It just ain't the same somwhow

We won't go out as we are pretty strapped for cash, and with a 9 year old who thinks kissing is yuk - it certainly won't be all that lovey dovey either!!!

He says he loves me all year round, so why should he make a big song and dance about it on one day? I used to be really bothered about that attitude, but now I'm not - Itend to agree. We have been together over 10 years, and have our ways but it really is the stuff we do all year round that says more than an overpriced card will. He does buy flowers for me occasionally, so thats a nice surprise when he does. He would be quite happy for me to get him a fish or living rock/coral for his Marine tank, or a bit for a car he has bought as a project rather than a naff teddy bear that pickle will claim anyway!!!

Mr. G probably won't remember it's Valentines anyway! When we first met he used to buy soppy presents and cards, but, like Christmas and Easter, we don't usually bother any more. Like others have said, all the hype seems to detract from the event. There is a chance he'll surprise me, but it's a very small chance lol

Well I don't care if it's naff and overpriced and cheesy. I think it's nice to have a special day for those who want to celebrate. Some couples don't have time to do special things on random occasions, or circumstances dictate that they can't so it's good to have a day when it's ok to do it!
OH is romantic sometimes and I am too, , but not everyday, but I know on valentine's Day it will a special bit of couple time when we remember to be so, because we have put aside some time for it!

I am taking Mrs Pw to Mcarthur Glen outlet park to buy some new boots and in the evening we have a table booked at Feast of India, and as a bonus the price is the same as other non rip off days. Roses of course will be brought up to the boudoir in the morning.

It is Mr Miffy's birthday on Valentines day and he has asked for a picnic for his birthday, yes i know it is February but he loves picnics.
We are off to The Gower for a week for half term and will be having a camp fire and picnic on the beach for Valentines day and for his birthday, champagne and birthday cake.

It's my OH's birthday but we don't do cards as we both think they're a ripoff. This year we are having a meal cooked for by my Dad who is keen to show off his culinary prowess.

We will definitely celebrate. My hubby and I got engaged of Valentines day 47 years ago and always celebrate it. ( yes, er did get married about 2 years later.)
We used to go out to dinner until it all became a rip off.
My hubby and me will have a champagne breakfast, will probably go out for lunch and in the night time he will cook the dinner with a bottle or two of red.
Cards and gifts will also be exchanged.
I agree with everyone about the commercialism of the whole thing but when all is said and done there's not many days in the year to give your loved a card and its nice to single out some days as "special"
We work hard at making each other happy and its worth it because he is one in a million.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Just remembered I've been sent a £15 voucher for Frankie and Benny's (not valid for 14th Feb) so we are going to celebrate on friday the 12th instead.
