  • How did you tell your parents you were pregnant?

How did you tell your parents/parents-in-law that you were pregnant? We've been married three years, and I think my mum has already given up on grandbabies.. mostly because we've never much talked about kids. Hubby and I have been trying for a while now though, and just found out I'm six weeks along! I was wondering if anyone had any creative ideas on how to break the big news?

Aw, happy news. Many congratulations. We were a bit boring I suppose, took my mum out for dinner and told her. With the second, we waited until Christmas day, then said, 'we've got another present for you, but we haven't wrapped it' and I pointed at my tummy (I didn't really show with either baby until over 5 months so there wasn't a lot to see). My sister missed the bleedin' obvious clue and replied 'oh good, I hope it's a food processor. No-one's got me one yet.'

Don't tell 'em - wait until they notice! They'll probably go potty and drive you mad, so I'd suggest taking it slowly and get yourselves used to the idea first.

I haven't got children, but my Sister got so fed up with parents trying to take over. I know they only want to help, but it's your baby!

Congatulations on your news, you must be thrilled

              Congrats on lovely news!

My mum told me I was pregnant!
We were on holiday together in the Gambia when she started suspecting that I was. Nauseous every evening at the same time etc, also Aunt Irma didn't arrive when she should have...I was blaming it on the climate Mum was there when I did my test and 2 blue lines popped up.

Was terrified of telling my Dad (they have been divorced forever!), cos he had always saying he didn't want grandchildren before he was 50 - and I was 5 years early. I blurted it out then burst into tears! Don't know why I worried, he was thrilled and pickle has him wrapped round her pinkie

If you can wait till Mothers Day take your parents out for a meal and give them a card or flowers putting on the card - To Granny or Grandma, I'm sure they will work the rest out

                        Congratulations Gwen!

Like Anna, I told people as soon as I knew myself, it really never occured to me to wait or 'make an announcement'
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

                              Congrats Gwen -

I dont really have any creative ways to tell parents or in laws, as only you know how they'll take it. I think I just told mine in conversation....bit unimaginative.
