      Cor.....

.......black, blue & stiff isn't in it today. That arnica gel is really working on the bruising though.

This morning we had a hamper & flowers from Tesco, with get well wishes. It was beautiful. Lots of goodies - chocolates, biscuits, sparkling wine, teas, coffees, jams etc. The DD has gone off with the basket, but she can bring it back again pdq as it'll be lovely for storing some of my fabrics.

I must phone up and say thank you in a minute

would it be inapropriate offer you a kit Kat now as your off Ice Cream
their slogan always used to be have a brake have a Kit Kat
it just seems the bar was made for these situations

Take care you never know you might be back on your roller skates before Spring
No KitKats in the hamper.....maybe Tesco don't remember that ad.

A hamper, thats a lovely gesture considering it wasn't Tescos fault in anyway. How lovely. Hope you enjoy it and that you don't hurt too much today.

DD's bf has pointed out that Tesco might have a slight responsibility had we been going to sue someone, or whatever it is you do - the driver's car was a Daewoo Matiz and it fitted nicely between the bollards that are supposed to protect the public from being bumped by mad ol' bids in cars.

The hamper was lovely though, so I'm just enjoying that!

Must say you have a cracking attitude !
I would come out with all sorts of puns, I can tell after the kitkat joke that they would be hip, but do you really need a ribbing as well ?
I must say that I admire your moral responsibility in not wanting to sue the driver. As you say, she was obviously shaken by the whole incident, doesn't take her responsibility lightly, wants to do the right thing - unless you are permanently affected and need money, it would really serve no purpose to stress her further. We are all frail mortals and make mistakes, that's why the bollards are there. (And that point about the car not being stopped by them is why Tesco's sent you a basket !) I for one would think twice before leaping to judgement.
Having such mercy and compassion in adversity is very laudable...here's hoping you manage it even when the pethidine is wearing off ! And who knows, you may make a new gardening friend in the old lady...when people say where did you meet, you can say you bumped into each other in a car park !
There's no point reading history if you don't use the lessons it teaches.

Flippin eck! That was lovely of the old lady, too. I didn't think you were planning to sue, just that others had mentioned it.

Wouldn't it be fabulous if this turned into a nice friendship? Hope the hamper contains Ibuprofen, though I suspect a little Tramadol or similar is on the menu at the mo...

Very stiff indeed today, and some of the bruising is going green around the edges so I'm multicolured too. But I don't feel as bad as I thought I would.

I think I need to get something else to help with the pain at night. Pethidine makes me high as I kite and although I feel rested, I've not actually slept that much. Also, I am really glad we bought a memory foam mattress at TJHuges, it has helped so much.

The lady who bumped me phones every day for a progress report, bless her. Today she sounded better in herself and it was nice to hear. OH has decided that it would be nice to go out rather than attempt a high tea here, so we're going to a posh garden centre that has a lovely cafe.

Poor Jules (I only just saw this thread, as you know. You were very sweet at refusing my suggestion of a gym ball to use as a chair)

I personally think that ANYONE who hits another person/cyclist/anything should have their license revoked until they pass another driving test.

If they have to stay at home, so be it. The person they hit isn't able to drive, so why should they be able to carry on?
(we had an elderly man mount the pavement here a couple years ago, killing one person and crushing the legs of a teenage girl. He'd apparently got "confused" which pedal was which)
