Most kind of you Stephen, thanks.

I'm intending to cycle all the way up Ditchling - which is why I'm getting in as much hill training as I can. I'll feel a lot more confident once I have cracked the hill near me.

After quite literally, some searching, I have found my ideal bike for the ride:

All the best to you Wayne. My friends set off on the C2C bike ride yesterday - mixed emotions as the start is in Whitehaven.....but life and fund raising must go on....Hope you have an excellent time on your adventure!

Mr TS and I have cycled 50 miles in the last two days which is a huge achievement for him, at nearly 20stone (although with much complaining on his part, mostly coz he wouldn't wear stoopid cycling clothes so sweated his nuts off in a heavy rugby shirt & cargo shorts)

I'm signing us up for the Norwich 50 next year

Good on ya lady! Can't view it because our BT connection is so rubbish, but if it's a sponsorship event put me down for donating!

I managed 18 miles yesterday morning - cycled the route to work and back (with a bit of a detour).

I'd done 17 miles and was nearly home but thought I'd have another go at the hill (having done a fairly steep incline earlier on in the ride). I only managed half way, but I will crack it before the ride.

                I'm getting the bug again.

Yesterday I mostly cycled a 28 mile round trip - AND managed to conquer my hill in one go. It's a 15% gradient - steeper than I thought, but I made it. Only stopped once on my route, near Henlow. Had a Mars bar and a drink, then peddled back. Some lush villages round here that I've just never seen before.

Planning to cycle to work a couple of days next week too (when not taking/picking up Bean).

This time next week I will be broken.

Anyway, not sure if this will work, but this should show you my route (for those vaguely interested): MapMyRide.com | View My Nearly Thirty Miler in Harlington, United Kingdom

                    That's great, I couldn't do that hill.

Ease off on the training now, don't knacker yersell

But I thought you'd conquered Ditchling?

Oddly, the sign at the top of 'my hill' says 15%, but on my route map it only comes up as 5%...

Bought all my gubbins with me to work (shirt, trousers, shoes baby wipes etc) ready for the cycle to work tomorrow. Looking forward to it!

Well, cycled to work today - only one 'incident' with a muppet in charge of a 7.5t truck.

Not a bad run, only took 1/2 an hour door to door.

                            I think I'm smitten again.

41mph on my way home - going down the hill this time.

                                Woop woop!

                                Getting quite excited now.

Newsflash: Our team leader contacted me yesterday. He's had to pull out due to a back injury. I asked 4 dudes who said they quite fancy doing it - none have said yes. I can understand it though - only 4 days to go's a bit short notice.

Still - I'm confident I'll have a team for next year. They've all said they're 'up for it'.

                                We'll see.
