I'm guaranteed a place for next years ride (50th anniversary of the BHF), and already have a few dudes looking to take part.

Looks like I'm organising a team for next year...

Here ya go then! Taken by one of my colleagues from the office window as I set off home last night.

Oh, and another pick of my speedo (not whilst riding of course). Yes, I hit 42mph last night - with my backpack on too!

Well, tomorrow's the day. This time tomorrow I may well be broken.

See you all on the other side.

I'll probably be more John Wayne than Hey Wayne after tomorrow.

                            Wow! What a day.

Early start - managed to get to the line for just before 7am. My fellow team mates had already gone through the gates and made a start - so it was time to play catch up.

Wasn't long before I'd passed them (I'd only met one of the team members once before, so it was easily done)I then hit a whole load of people - thousands and thousands. There'd been a big accident up ahead and they'd closed the road off. So we waited.Got to the next rest stop after the accident had cleared and said I'd wait for the others.I waited, and waited....

They finally caught up and we were off again. Then we had to slow down to wait for the others to catch up.

We then hit a bit of a hill and I ploughed my way up - waited at the top for a few minutes but saw no sign of the others, so sent them a message to say that I was going to carry on, and maybe meet them in Brighton at the finish.

Got going again and eventually reached the dreaded Ditchling Beacon.

Dropped down the gears and set myself going. Made the mistake of looking up and thought 'Oh. My. God.' I'd never cycled up a hill like it.

Focussed my attention on the back wheel of the dude in front of me and chugged along. Shouted at a few walkers to 'KEEP LEFT' and ploughed on.

Eventually I could hear the tannoy of the entertainment dude at the top and could see masses of people. I'd made it!!! All the way up, no stops and didn't get out of the saddle.

I phoned LadyWayne and don't mind telling you, I got a little bit emotional. I'd done it.

                            Downhill from there on.

Down the final straight - nearly missed LadyWayne and Bean - if it wasn't for my brother shouting "WAYNE" I'd have not seen them.

Was easier than I'd set myself up for - but still a great day. Well organised and very well attended.

                            What a fathers day.

we drove through brighton today and i thought of you doing this. Was absolutely rammed so we didn't stop to look at any the cyclists although a few drove on my side of the road for a while and gave me kittens

Hope you had a fun time

A huge well done Wayne, what an achievement!!

Think its normal to get a tad emotional when you have pushed yourself to do something so physical. Reaching the finish line that looked so far away at the start is bound to make you a bit wibbly

Pat yourself on the back and put your legs in a nice hot bath xx
