I know I'm a dummy, but I have a question;

I'm in the process of changing from Chrome to Safari. (Yes, I'm gonna buy a Mac, Zaz! ) Is there an easy way to copy all my saved bookmarks from A to B? When I changed from IE to Firefox I lost loads (this may have been due to my ignorance, and I accept that), when I changed from FF to Chrome it was easy, they just transferred over, but I don't know how to transfer them this time (apart from the obvious, long-winded way), again, it's probably my ignorance (or the large glass of Port), so I apologise. I should have started this earlier in the evening, but, well, I didn't!

Just did a quick search on this and there appears to be a free piece of software called transmute that will do this for you. I've never used it though so no idea whether it dpes what it's supposed to.....

I think you should be able to export your bookmarks from Chrome as an HTML file (ie a simple web page) and import them from that in Safari once you've moved the file across to your Mac.

I've got a mac and I don't use safari. i use firefox or chrome.

Opera is the fastest browser for a mac. be wary of the newest macbooks though, they have an os issue of the wireless signal dropping. apple are troubleshooting it but they are asking users to keep logs and send it to them. tres annoying

I use xmarks to synchronise my bookmarks between PCs. Maybe you could use that?

It does work for both Safari and Chrome, but I'm not sure if it will swap between the two.

Ta folks, I knew I'd get more than one answer, but all gratefully received.

Have to say, I've found Safari quicker than Chrome, which is why I was going to change. I like FF too because I can block all the adverts, haven't sussed that out on t'others yet though.

Just bumped for an update...????

I now have my (abso-spankingly-yummy) new (3 year-old) MacBook (and extras) and have decided; I don't mind which browser I use, as long as it's reasonably quick and I have an easy to use (and free, obviously) ad-blocker. All I need to do is save my current 'bookmarks' in Google Chrome on my Desktop PC, so I can transfer them to my MacBook. I do have separate hard drive storage facilities, or (I'm assuming), I can just email myself.

Any suggestions?

if you're running 10.5 or later, you have a nifty thing called time machine on your mac and it will run the backups on your external hard drive.

as for the browser, why not download them all and then delete them if you don't like it? if it's not installed you can just eject the disk image. If it installed itself, just drag it to the trash bar and it's done. simples

If it's just your bookmarks you want to transfer then e-mail will do it fine as your exported bookmarks will be a fairly small HTML file. If you've got more stuff you want to move then how about a USB drive?
