Varifocal Glasses from Glasses Direct
I'm short sighted and have only ever brought one pair of glasses from a shop, as they are sooo expensive.
I've used Glasses Direct for the past 5 years or so, the service has always been great, and best of all, the cost is so much less that the shop.Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

Just for distance only. So I suppose it isn't that bad. I was still in shock though.

My varifocal reactorlight lenses cost 425 five years ago, 625 including frames and 'free' reading glasses for when I was wearing contact lenses. I rationalised it was 3 pairs in one but I was never happy with the fit and they fell apart a few months ago. Since then I use my contact lenses or stagger around in a mist.
I like the idea of bifocal contact lenses though. If a thing's worth doing, it's worth doing to excess

I wear glasses all the time for distance, but now I need reading glasses too.
I tried bifocals, but couldn't get used to the constant changing of focus as you looked around, and they made things like going down steps and estimating distances difficult
The close - up part is just at the bottom of the frame, so if you are doing any serious closeup work like model making or sewing you only have a small field of vision, and you have to keep your head up and peer down. I prefer seperate distance and full frame closeup glasses
