    • We have made our own Christmas cards this year, with the aid of the computer. The saving isn't great (cheapo cards cost less than the materials for these, but they were less than the ones we usually buy), but the satisfaction of using our own pictures to make cards that will CERTAINLY not be the same as anyone else has sent...

      • I've been making little chickens stuffed with lavender to hang on the tree, then give as presents to anyone who visits over the festive season. Two 3.5 inch squares of fabric - the trick is putting the comb and beak fabrics between them pointing inside! Then the bottom part - after turning inside out and adding a couple of teaspoons of lavender flowers, is blind stitched together across the square to make the triangular shape. Easier to show than to explain!

        • Love the chickens I am going to have a go at these, not sure I understand how a square turns into a triangle though?

                  • Today I met a lady who started cake decorating by reading magazines, then joined a 'circle' with an experienced cake decorator leading it, and ended up making cakes for family and friends for special occasions.
We chatted for ages, because I have done loads of the simplest types (mostly novelty stuff), but she is semi-professional!

                        • At the weekend, I was brave enough to approach my local gift shop, to see if they would like to take some of my things on sale or return.

It turned out so much better than I expected - she bought all my country fairies, and all my stuffed fabric hearts and birds, and also took some of my handpainted wooden pieces on sale or return. She's even had people asking for 'special' fairies...all my fairies are special (individually named and unique), but these are bespoke colour hair, clothes and names. Fantastic!!
