That's good to hear Hilary. Shame there's such a big day coming - although it's a lovely reason to be rushed off your feet! I hope by next week when it's ll behind you, you'll see her making progress day by day.

I'm so glad to hear she's through the operation well. Whe Bob had his knee done our springer cross Jake was very good and didn't bother him at all, apart from the occasional kiss to say he was still there for him. Both our dogs used to sleep on the sofa's and beds, but now we "barracade" them all. Bedroom doors shut, clothes horse and small table on sofa's. We got them both new dog beds which they absolutely adore now. We live in a bungalow so stairs aren't a problem, but we have steps in the garden which we had to gate off also. Would there be any way that both your dogs could go and stay with someone else over the weekend so neither they not you get stressed too much with all the wedding stuff going on?

I'm sure you'll be surprise at how quickly she heals from the operation. Sending all our love and licksx

Glad to hear she's on the mend, Hilary and that the op went well. You'll be relieved to have her home tomorrow even though you will be busy. As others have said, I think Lady will surprise you and be gentle with the invalid.
        Enjoy the wedding festivities!

Glad the surgery went well Hilary & hope the wedding goes smoothly. Maybe you could just ask someone ( a neighbour?) to look in on the dogs a couple of times on Saturday to check all is well?

              Great news Hilary.

As others have said, I'm sure Lady will be sympathetic - they always seem to know.

I find it hard to imagine Lady being sympathetic, but she may have hidden depths. Fortunately most of the hassle on Saturday is away from here... less fortunately, I will have to be 'in the thick of it', so unable to spend as much time with her as we would both like.
I think she may have to be in the cage while we are out (bought for use in the car when we first got her, 10 years ago) so she doesn't try to get on chairs to look out of the window and bark at everyone who goes past!
Just got to wait until tomorrow to see when they will let her come home, Progress report this morning that basicaly she was 'as well as could be expected' (my words, but that is what it added up to).

You really are a lovely lot on here!

I didn't think Jake would be as good with Bob as he was after his op. Was lovely to see the obvious love and devotion between the pair of them.

Hope it all goes ok when you get her home..

I'm glad to hear things are on the mend (pun no.1) dogs are good healers before you know it she will be back to normal,

please tell me shes covered by insurance as I imagine this would cost an arm and a leg (pun no.2) not that cost would have stopped me doing anything for my dogs, I really miss having one. i'm just waiting for my children to grow up so I can put them in the kennel, then I can finally get myself another dog

I am so glad she is on the mend.
It will be hard to keep a naturally energetic dog to take it easy.
My old girl got a fractured pelvis years ago and I tried to box her in to a small area of the living room with a comfy bed as the vet advised, but I would come down in the morning to find she had got out and settled herself on the sofa, so I gave up in the end and just left her to her own devises.
Yours will, I am sure, find what she can and cant do, very quickly.
Good luck with the wedding, too.

You can always shut the curtains when you go out. My dog is diabetic and was diagnosed just over a year ago. We thought the worst as she was very poorly but she proved us wrong as she is a fighter. We have had her for 12 years and she had only needed to go to the vets 4 times till now. She goes once a month now and has to have jabs twice a day and we have to careful what she eats. When she had a small op last year we had to keep the curtains closed when we went out as the neighbour keeps coming to our window and looking in and she gets a bit protective. The best thing you can do with your dog is not give up hope and keep giving out the little hugs and cuddles, you will be thanked with lots of little wags from her

She is very wise (for a dog) and most likely when in the cage she will simply go to sleep. Shutting curtains wouldn't help much (and it's so long since they were closed I am not sure they WOULD shut now), and she is used to sleeping up on a chair or sofa, so I think the cage is safest!
She's coming home tomorrow after they change the pain-killer 'patch'. It lasts 3 days, so next one will be due Monday. After that maybe she will only need the oral pain killer.
