I'm another one who would only go for 'interesting to meet' rather than 'crush'. I stopped getting crushes on celebs when I was about 15 (Paul MacCartney, remember that was when the Fab 4 were still recording!).
On that basis, Sam Vimes beats Von Lipwig (but not by much) Harry King (as long as he's had a couple of baths) Sid Halley, Druss OR Tenaka Khan (difficult to choose between those). Yeah Sparhawk comes in as a 'nearly'.
If getting back into the 'closer to real' Roderick Alleyn comes in there.
If going for TV, Bergerac, Lewis, Troy (DC Barnaby's first assistant)... there is a bit of a detective theme there, but then most of the series I watch ARE detective, and long have been.
Ooooh just remembered, anyone else recall a children's psychic/detective thing called Ace of Wands? Now I could actually fancy Tarot (I did back then)
