Thanks for posting this Two Sheds - it has been bothering me and as I'm new to facebook I was getting really confused as well. Now all I need to do is read through the advice several times and experiment until I get it right!
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

We had problems with FB after my brother's wedding last year. My SIL's family are quite horrible and were posting really offensive comments all over the place.

I swiftly learned how to block people and have set everything so that only people who are friends can see my profile/postings. I also cancelled a load of applications too, bar the games I do still play and don't do any quizzes anymore.

Mine's always been set to "friends only" and I block almost all the games/applications.

I have been hit by many virii (thankfully I have excellent AV/net security) from known friends who have themselves been hit by nasties within FB - my solution was to remove ALL my data and close down my account.

My life has been enhanced by this action and I have (re)gained lots of outdoor time

I realise this thread isn't about whether or not one is on FB and well done TS for pointing this issue out for people wishing to use FB.

I realised last year that my settings wernt right when a friend of a friend of a friend e-mailed me. Now everything is set to 'only friends' or whatever is most secrative.
Im nearly addicted to vampire wars and mafia wars, other than that dont bother much with the apps. but most of my original war friends are still on my friends list and we keep track a bit..just no-one off those 'get clan' etc sites.
As far as I know Ive never directly picked up a virus as a result of FB, no doubt now Ive said that I will
