I just had to post, today has been just about perfect and its very much down to my OH
I started doing the front garden, not my favourite job, when OH came down, and called through the window to offer me a cuppa. When I went inside he asked how long I'd be, as he'd thought we'd go to Chris's garden (my landshare one), and cut down the bit of tree I wanted out the way. Its a massive mahonia, and Chris had given me permission to chop off about half, as I'd complained it was a health and safety hazard (prickly and at eye level).
I couldn't manage it myself, and had asked son no2 to do it, but he hadn't got around to it. I hadn't moaned, but OH had sussed I was getting a little peeved about it. Anyway, despite the fact OH hates doing jobs like that, he sawed down the tree and I filled the car with mahonia, which went straight to the tip. I can now get to my compost bin safely. The 'half ' we left is now snug against the fence, and about 8ft tall. I also took the opportunity to prune back a few other shrubs, to 'tidy up' so I've now got almost half as much space again as I did originally, if that makes sense. If that had been all, I would still have counted the day a success, but there was more to come.
My sister was coming to see me this afternoon, I was due to pick her up at 2.30, and she was staying to dinner. OH offered to pick my sister up, giving me a couple of hours more time, and I dug over half of the garden. He then cooked us roast dinner, while sister and I gossiped and shared a bottle of wine. He's just left to take her home.
I don't know what I've done to deserve it, but I feel spoiled rotten, and so pleased with what we achieved today. I just felt it was something good to share.
