It's horrible having to tell your boss before you've even got an interview... I have to do that last year when applying for my current job (internal move). My Line Manager had to be copied into the online application form, so I had no choice but to warn him before I put my form in.

Dexter the dog hadn't forgotten! Spent an hour at the lottie this afternoon howling at the sun/moon. Ended up bringing him back home to leave him howling through lean to windows then back to lottie on my own for a "reet good fertle!" DDL

My last interview was for a promotion to store manager, had to wait a week for the results after the interview, which were by phone! The evening after the interview I disected it and realised all the things I'd missed or messed up, so got upset with myself and then thought, ah well, chalk it up to experience! When my boss finally rang up he asked, 'So, how do you think it went', and I gave a ten minute appraisal, including the bits that I'd missed and messed up, ending with, thanks for the interview, although it wasnt as good as I know I could have done I am grateful for the experience, and will know better next time what to do and how to prepare, to which my boss replied, 'Wow! You've been quite harsh on yourself there Suzanne, in actual fact we thought it an excellent interview, you scored very highly and we'd like to offer you the job of Manager of Congleton Branch!' I was gobsmacked, so much so I didnt even think to ask what the salary was until we'd almost hung up the call! lol!

Update

I have been invited to interview Wednesday week first thing.

At least I know I did the form right. I have to gather all my paperwork into something vaguely presentable now along with three bits of ID including my passport and various other bits. I may have to sort the office as I go.
