The good bit about moving - we're in the process of de-cluttering, which just happens to be my very next favourite hobby after gardening

I've just bagged up four black sacks of no-longer wanted clothes good grief!! And Snowdrop is in the shed chucking stuff around - good boy

When are you off to have a look at the lottie???

NB- remember to check through Snowdrop's chuckout pile- there's bound to be a few things in there you still want/need!!!

I'm not even going to look at it (lottie) - Bert (lovely chap) is sending the paperwork out to me next week, I will sign and send back with my cheque for £24 right away.

I asked him if I could get my stuff up there by mid April, hence him rushing the paperwork over to me - bless him

We did have a walk around the lottie site last week and some are well tended, some are in need of some 'grass' lifting but none are in what I would consider horrid condition.

I have no idea what size I am getting for £24, at worst it'll be a half plot - which has to better than not having a plot.

Snowdrop isn't anywhere near my garden stuff, he is leaving that to me - wise boy

As I know nothing about army life can I ask why do you have to move at all?

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

I don't know anything about Army life, we are Royal Air Force

As to why people are moved, firstly think of the RAF as a large multi-national company which has to move it's staff around to fit roles as and where their skills are required.

Also, when youngers join up it is done as part of a character-building exercise, to help break them away from Mummies arms. But mostly it is for the role-filling as mentioned above.

Hi Piskie, sorry for the mix up about your husbands job.
Was just curious and you have given me a very good answer.
Good luck with your move and I hope you'll get your lotty.

Now I am a little sad - we had the moving survey chap here yesterday and they won't take all of my pots I have spent the last few weeks potting up my garden so as to take it [bottom lip]

Seems they are not paid to and if they get spot checking, which often happens he says, then they will get a slapping

Stupid thing is, they will take my pots if they are empty!!!

AND these 'things' (my plants) are my outside play things - yet they are allowed to take maahhhhooooosive kiddie bouncy things resembling a prison - but they won't take my toys

Nope, tisn't the load on/load off that's an issue - tis the actually carriage, aparently!

I asked what the difference was between an empty pot and a full pot (behave!!) and then the difference between a house plant and a garden plant.

He is not to be budged. To be fair, he was very nice etc etc and it isn't his fault (I guess) but I can't see what the heck the problem is!!

They are taking my greenhouse as a 'dismantled shed' - so why can't they take my garden plants/veg as 'house plants'

I'm inclined to say WTF but I won't

How frustrating for you. I take it you are moving a fair distance?

Not really far BM - tis only from Benson to Henlow which is approx 60 miles.

I shall not be able to throw healthy plants away, I will hire a van and move the stuff separate from the household stuff - BUT I shall register my disgruntled state to the military 'welfare'

You read my mind, I was going to suggest a self move if not too far or ask a friend or member of family to move them.........shame I'm too far away.
