Gang, basically DCs plot will be dug in what is currently a field, so its going to be pretty hard going initially.

DC, if you're cutting turf off, you'll need to use a spade (or the minidigger) to get it off, and then use it to do the initial digging. This will give you clods of earth which you can then bash with the back of your spade, or fork. Add compost, manure with fork, and when this is broken down a bit, you can use a rake to bring it to a really fine crumbly texture.

I've bent tines on my Spear & Jackson lifetime forks (2 of em) - usually on bramble roots. I now would use a small saw to break up the root, instead of bending another fork.

Foxes: rarely attack cats, despite what the Mail will tell you. There is easier prey than a snarling, spitting, biting, scratching, screaming little ball of fury.

A lot of split rubbish bags are done by cats.

Dogs are a nuisance for their poo - but cats leave their poo and kill wildlife.

Keeping cats in at night will save them from the foxies, and save some of our wildlife.
