Whilst I do not wish to be nosey, is there any way that membership of the 'vine can be done so that at the very least, a grape has to provide a county. I understand some people are apprehensive about putting personal info on the Net, but surely county wouldn't hurt - it just helps when grapes are asking about sowing / planting out times - there is a big difference between Kent and Jennie in Tingwall!

I think that putting your location in your personal profile is something that comes over time. I agree that a vague geographical location would help when giving recommendations to others.
The big shocks come when gender is not obvious from the posters name. My old landlady was called Lee after a cowboy actor her father was a fan of and another of my friends spells her name Leslie.
Look down the list of names in the members’ list and try and work out who is male or female. Now that would be a challenge for you
