..hang on to your handbag!
My pal went to see the England v Italy match two weeks ago, first up their luggage got lost, then on the day before the match they was walking around the locale, as ya do, passed some parked cars, pal had her bag on her shoulder (not across her body!) and from behind her came a Scooter and ripped the bag off her and sped off
Her hubby (very very large ex RAF Copper) was in front of her, walking in single file due to cars etc - so had no time to do anything at all.
Some locals saw what happened, got a seat for my pal, glass of water - the usual caring stuff, called the Police who were (she says) totally superb. Took them back to Plod Shop, pal asked for more water, big Cop went off out and came back having purchased a bottle of water for her out of his own money.
Moments later another Cop (with a very large bulge under his jacket!!) came in carrying her bag - yaaaay. They, the naughter little thugs, had taken the money, mobile phone AND the rugby tickets (noooooo!!) but all passports and credit cards were still there - phew!
Day of match they wandered down to stadium on the off chance of buying (very highly priced) tickets, you can't go all that way to watch a 6N match, lose your luggage, get mugged and then not go, now can you
They came upon a very friendly Welsh man who had two spare tickets, he sold them to my pals at face value, they couldn't believe their luck and offered him more - he said 'nooo (in Welsh) you have to sit next to me that will be payment enough to watch you get beat'
So, the moral is keep secure hold of your stuff wherever you may be!
