  • What are you most looking forward to doing this summer?

    Hi all,
Now the days are beginning to get longer, and weather alittle milder (well down here anyway ) I cant help but think of the summer.
One of the little pleasures I most look forward to is sitting in the garden with a cuppa and watching bees buzzing around the flowers and feeling the warmth of the sun on my skin.

So, what about you? What are you most looking forward to doing? Do you enjoy the little pleasures, like myself, or do you have a bigger reason to smile when you think of the coming summer?

Sitting by the canal watching the world go by and reading in the sun, with a cold drink and the bees buzzing round all the flowers.

I'm looking forward to going fishing with hubby. He is in to his carp fishing & fishes most Tuesdays & Wednesdays so when I finish school I pop in to see how he is getting on. I get fish & chips on the way there & we sit in the late afternoon/evening sunshine. We just chat & I do a bit of crochet whilst OH fishes. It's so peaceful just being by the water watching the wild life. As it gets dark OH gets his bed ready for his overnight session & I drive home to sort out the dog. On Wednesday I repeat the process but we share a chinese take away & OH packs his gear away. I have such a manic life that the time together just talking together watching the ducks swim by & those big carp jumping out is oh so peaceful. It's just a shame that occasionally the screeeeech of OHs bite alarm spoils the peace & tranquility because for the next 10 minutes all hell breaks loose. Great fun though & I wouldn't miss it for the world.

I'm looking forward to an early start on the lottie, on a clear sunny day, nice light breeze so not too hot - having my coffee break and picking some lovely sweet peas! The smell of the paths newly mown as well. Fab.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

That by then we will have done most of the hard work in the garden and can enjoy it. Also hopfully discovering that the breeze from the loch keeps the midges away and we can be outside

I really love harvesting - picking peas and lifting a few spuds for dinner - so they are so fresh they're almost still growing. Then eating dinner outside on the garden soaking up the last of the warm sun, watching the evening draw on, the bats come out and the chickens go to bed. Ah, bring it on!

Yep Flum, bring it on. Really and truthfully I love every season but summer is best. The past has always been so busy with child rearing and earning a living that when retirement time came me and him didn't really know what to do with ourselves. I am energetic, he not so, so we had to compromise. My compromise was to busy myself in the garden so that he could busy himself with watching telly. I love the garden and what I have made of it and love to sit and stare. I have to do it alone, sob sob cos my Gerry is just not comfortable and feels a need to go inside. A spot of rain could do it whereas I quite like a spot of rain.

Not studying! My brain hurts trying to keep up with everything, so from the end of May to the start of the next course in October it will be lovely not having to try and split myself into 3 or 4... All I'll have to do is read a pile of books for the next course, but that's fine, I love reading

Hearing the noises of my 3 grandchildren playing in my garden, walking the dog along the stream on warmer evenings and seeing the fantastic wildlife show that nature provides for me.
