i have just put my spuds for chitting into big (holds 30) egg boxes that i had saved for this and other purposes.
i am hot on the 3 Rs - reduce, reuse, recycle. not so much on the reading, riting and rithmatic
and i am looking at the fairly large net bags that the spuds came in wondering how i can make use of them.
any suggestions gratefully received.

Use them to store your onions in.

I'm with Bernie on this one, last year's did just that hanging from shed roof (inside) and very good for it they were too.

Or to store small winter squash in, again hung on a nail from a roof timber in a shed

I have set my potaoes in trays & have been wondering what to do with the bags. However my OH has already borrowed them. He is going to use them when he goes mullet fishing later in the year. Apparently he is going to fill them with stale bread, tie them on to the end of a rope & lower them from the jetty into the top few inches of sea. He says the wave action will wash small bits of bread out of the bags and attract the mullet. Me I say we will have to wait & see.

onion storage is a good idea, i should have plenty this year.
squash, i havent grown before but i have quite a few seeds ready to go, another good idea
mullet, mmmmmhhummm, i am not a fisher myself, but i am sure that is a good use for them. Hope you have a nice recipe ready for the cooking of his hunting success.

I get fed up trying to find new recipes for all the stuff he brings home. During the course of a normal year he brings home loads of different sea fish, various species of wildfowl, rabbits, pheasants. partridge, wood pigeons, wood pigeons & yet more bloomin wood pigeons. I shouldnt moan really but I am so fed up with pigeons that if anybody has any unusual pigeon recipies I would be very grateful pigeon jam, pigeon trifle anything

He takes his hunter role seriously then. Sorry I have got no wood pigeon recipes to pass on; they are considered to be garden birds round here, like sparrows and robins. I think I would get strung up if I took a pop at one.

Hey Flighty - I did pigeon and black bean stir fry a while ago - absolutely gorgeous! Keep the pigeon really rare - mmmmmmmmmmmm. Also pigeon bourgingnon was a definate hit at hogmanay. Wish I had your problem of too much pigeon - love the stuff!! Happy vining by the way...

I was going to suggest a similar thing, combined with a trip to the bank. Instant riches will be yours.
