  • Are all our Continental Grapes ok in the storms?

Just been watching the news about dreadful storms and flooding in France, Spain and Portugal.

If you're not too busy bailing out or battening down the hatches could our Continental chums check in please?

My house is ok, however after a rather social evening, my head remains in a bad state of repair.

I was watching the news too, I know the Puy du Dom (Scareys) has suffered a major power outage, but dont think there are any Grapes in the worst affected areas in France, the Vendee and the Charente Maritime.

Here, here - hope you're all safe and any damage/loss etc at a minimum of cost and disturbance. Batten down those hatches and keep yourself and any livestock safe indoors.

Perhaps there has been loss of leccy in those parts and our Continental chums can't get online?

I watched the BBC news on line and they're saying that the storm will be moving across to Denmark , going north of Paris and through Brussels.

Well, our hatches were all battened down, everything flyable was put away and it rained a fair bit last evening.

Bumped into a neighbour who asked if the storm had kept us awake ......... ummmm, what storm, slept right through it.

Apparently the storm was further out over the Bay and sea than originally tracked to it missed us, we just caught the edge of it.

              Simples!!!

We're fine thanks- although some of the gusts were pretty lively!!!

We made the precaution of parking the cars well away fro our big tree though.

Rivers round here are bursting their banks and the water level is still rising!
                - fortunately we're well above our local river

                Thanks for asking folks!

Just got back on-line this morning. Bob, you're right - we didn't have any electricity at all yesterday. Cooking on the wood burner looses it's appeal after a while but at least we were warm and had hot drinks and torches. Luckily our neighbour is attached to the Marie and he warned us to close all the vollets (shutters) and prepare for a wild night. We were kept awake by the wind but luckily nothing blew off or down.

Anyone know about Mr Darcy - is the Gironde badly affected?
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

I've seen Mr Darcy but not the Tomatokings or Jardiniere.

I'm afraid my French geography isn't up to much so I'm not really sure who might have been affected.
