Luckily our neighbour is attached to the Marie and he warned us to close all the vollets (shutters) and prepare for a wild night. We were kept awake by the wind but luckily nothing blew off or down.
It is one of those times when the woodburner comes into its own. I am always so thankful especially when we had some powercuts when it was minus 8

Fingers crossed for all our chums.

Never really been in a 'storm' storm, but we had some pretty hefty weather when we were in Tuscany year before last and that was scary enough thank you.

I've just managed to catch up with the news and can't believe how lucky we were to get away with just a few hours without electricity. I am hoping that Jardiniere is Ok - she is right on the canal side so I hope she hasn't been flooded
Can I just say too - thank you all for your concern. this really is a great place and it is good to know that peeps are so caring.

        THANK YOU, YOU LOVELY PEEPS

you are so lovely - we had a tiny tiny storm - fairly normal spring one - debris in the roads but no power cuts.....nothing in the garden blew away... Rodley is further west than me and there's a new guy (Dave) in Deux Sevres ...... not heard from them but Rodley has not been on the vine for a while

Glad to hear that you got away fairly unscathed. I was a bit worried but I wasn't exactly sure where you are. Aren't we lucky to have such caring grapes.

More than lucky I'd say...this is my definition of an extended family...only 2 peeps in my 'real' family have checked if we are OK ( bit hurt to be honest)

Jandiniere- I was concerned for you when I saw the height of our local rivers...how close were/ are you to the river bursting it's banks???

fingers crossed for the other Grapes we're yet to hear from x

Good to hear you escaped relatively unscathed Jardiniere
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

When I was driving down to London Village at the crack of dawn this morning I though 'Oh no! Floods! What about Jardiniere???'

Thank goodness everyone seems to be ok so far.

Hi.Many Thanks for your thoughts ,I came downstairs at 03.30 because of the racket.Went outside and the noise of the wind in the large trees that run down the East side of the garden was unbelievable .I did not go back to bed and spent the rest of the night on the settee with the dog for company,(my wife is in the UK for a week). We are very lucky to get away with a few tiles, the power was only off for a few hours but have only just got the internet back ,hence the delay in posting. We are very lucky compared to parts Charente Maritime and the Vendee which are the Departments next to ours.

Was in Bordeaux today and all seemed fine and dandy there, that's in the Gironde - but further north, in the Vendee, they got well and truly splattered, news this evening said 35 dead I think.
