There's nowt better than:

1. A good session on your lottie and when you've finished for the day, you can actually see progress!

2. A lovely, long soak in the bath, glass of wine in hand after all your hard work!

What's everyone elses ideas of "there's nowt better than....."?

The first tiniest little tomato on the plant! and the first pod of peas (eaten raw of course!)

The first pick of any veg. If I had to choose, the first broad beans - we eat them pods and all when they are the size of my little finger, like mangetout, whole. That earthy, full, green primitive taste signals the start of the next season's harvest

My family, who grew lots of our own veg, had a small tradition for the 'firsts' - we'd link little fingers around the dinner table and make a wish.

The first time of the alarm clock going off and it's light instead of dark, and walking home from work in the light instead of the dark. During the winter I begin to feel like a mole, never seeing daylight. Roll on Spring!!
