According to QI; no-one has died of a spider bite in Australia since 1981
Just googled it as I didn't believe you (sorry ) and some of the sites on their claim it's been even longer so maybe I'd not be scared of them there either.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
I find things with too many legs mildly upsetting - unless they get too close. Crabs are tasty and therefore fine, though I have freaked when one wrapped all it's legs around my wrist once.
My real fear is of close spaces - exacerbated by any implication of water flooding in.
Dark swirl'ly water gets me every time, not keen on jetties and piers either, all that dark wood and metal and oh goodness dark swirling seaweed!
Thing is I just love boats and sailing and water. I have been out on many boats at night, but am getting worse as I get older!
When I was a tiny kiddie Mum and Aunt took me on boat ride - we had to climb down Southend pier to water level on weed covered slippery steps, both my hands were held by Aunt and Mum tightly - but I could feel my feet sliding if only they had let me hold on with one hand! can still see the dark swirling weed water.........
Jeneyo. Forgive me for even offering a suggestion as to where and when your other stress related afflictions came from but it appears to me that you are also afraid of your own shadow (no name offered) apart from timidity. Maybe this is the route cause of everything. I think you should take a course of kick boxing or the like. Just maybe? big hug
Fear of fish heads - it comes from my brother coming back from deep sea fishing, and after my mum prepared one of the fish, he chased me round the house with its head. I'm a veggie so don't come across fish that often.
Also bit freaked by knives (not the tableware kind)- which is I think quite logical!

I'm still pretty creeped out by the dark. I always think someone is lurking in the shadows. But then, this is a totally rational fear as everyone knows that the dark is where the monsters live!
(Achluophobia - Fear of darknes)
Ollie so long as you keep the wardrobe door closed you've nothing to worry about.
Mines not a phobia I don't think, I'm just a bit scared of cows.
....It's of things soaring above me - even just a bit above me...
Standing at the bottom of cliffs and looking up makes me feel a bit freaked out - Mountains too, even from a distance.
My weirdest one is Paper in Mouths. I hate holding paper in my mouth, can't bear it touching my teeth and just thinking about it makes my toes curl and hands itch.
Bridges, or glass partitions in the floor and grills in the pavement are all things I try to avoid walking / traveling over if they crop up in my day. Going over Bridges are OK as long as someone else drives so I can sit with my feet off the car floor and hands clenched.
And the dark.....hate the dark but dont sleep with a light on.
i dont like spiders and i dont like crowds of people, but i wouldnt say i feared them. probably my biggest fear is having my head covered by someone else......i got lost at the bottom of my bed as a small child, then ducked under water as a young teenager, and now i have to control what covers my head!.
I have a loathing, almost a fear, I guess, of Cobwebs. Fine with spiders though. My real fear, the one that makes me go cold is Fungus. The hairs on my spine are standing up now I've typed the word!
All the best - Glutton 4 Punishment Freelance shrub butcher and weed removal operative.
Just thought of another; being restrained, held against my will. Years ago, someone held my arms by my side, for a laugh, and I couldn't get free - I freaked completely.
I cured myself of crowd panic by going to gigs at places like Wembley, and drinking loads!
