Only works for me if you're on the right page ie it works fine on this thread cos it's only 1 page long but if it went over to, say 6 pages, I'd have to guess which was the page which contained the last post I'd read and then do it from there. Maybe I've misunderstood what the problem is.
I only ever use the New Posts page which can often run into 3 or more pages (if I'm not quick enough!) - I then scan over the titles and those I want to read I hit the last post link and it takes me to, erm, the last post.
I have to avert my eyes from all the 'bleedy bum' 'sore leg' chuck threads - and no, that wasn't a moan about them

I used to use the first unread button all the time, but it hasn't worked on my poota in ages. It is especially useful in threads that keep getting added to (like the chat thread) when you return time and again to catch up on what has been added.
