Looks like he's still about £80,000 up on the whole deal.
Assuming the "more than double" mentioned in the article is 40p profit per dozen he made around £3.33 million profit over all.
He's got to cough up £3.25 million leaving him with £80,000. It probably won't compensate for his lost earnings while he's in prison, but considering he won't be in for all that long I don't imagine he'll lose a huge amount.
The bit about "must pay up or face another 6.5 years" makes me laugh though. He's a thief... just TAKE it from him!
I do wonder though - how was he caught?

One wonders how the auditors for free range eggs didn't notice he was buying in shedloads of eggs and selling them straight on......oh dearie me, they probably don't audit them do they?
How silly of me.

Sorry to digress but:-
Correct me if I'm wrong but a free range egg is from a hen that is allowed to free range?
An organic egg is from a hen that is fed on organic food?
Theoretically then, an egg can be organic even though it was layed by a battery hen fed on organic food?My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order

Zaz - that'd do it alright.
Snadger - UK Organic Standards according to the Soil Association require "free range" so no, if they are "Organic" eggs, they can't just be battery eggs fed an organic diet.
Soil Association standards are different | Organic standards: legal definition | Standards guide | Our organic standards | Consumer guide | Soil Association
That's a pretty informative document about what's what on the Organic front for livestock and their produce.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Just had another read of the Soil Association thing I posted in an earlier post...
Apparently the UK "baseline standard" for organic eggs is for the chickens to have access to free range for one third of their lives. Soil Association certification for Organic eggs requires full access to free range.
So, a bit of a difference - but it seems neither are "battery" by any stretch. Apparently the standards demanded by the Soil Association are the highest in the UK.
