Lights are on exactly like normal... i.e. Most of the house is dark and the rooms people are using have a light on.
I make up for it by switching things off at the wall when I've finished with them... all year round. Not for any non-financial reasons though.

Me too, but just for this hour even the 1 room and low power hall lights are out, just made cup of tea by wind up torch light (but wouldn't do that every night, had to wind it twice!)

Wind up torches are fantastic little things. Boot of the car, backpack for camping, snowboard trips (in case I need a torch in the hotel for some reason - power cut, something lost under bed etc) and it's wonderful to have one less set of batteries to carry and bring spares for.

Quite pleased - managed to go on lappy with battery and I have a glass of wine and 2 candles! Mind you - I am relaxing on the bed with the cat threatening to pounce on my toes.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

How fast an hour goes by, GF has insisted I put the lounge light back on, and wasn't happy until the dimmer was turned up full, still everywhere else remains dark.

              Pity the neighbours didn't participate.

              Until next year everyone!

It was reported on our TV news tonite that it was not supported as enthusiastically as it was last year.

As for myself, I am not a waster of any resources, having been raised in a poor household. I did have one light on as I was keying up posts on this forum. It's awfully hard to type in the dark!
Happiness is being with the love of your life. If you can't have that, then an unlimited supply of well-rotted manure is a pretty close second!

OH had the start of a migraine when I put on the candles last night, too much flickering, but we had them on for the rest of the night and it was lovely and the migraine didn't amount to anything.

I still believe there is am ulterior motive behind all energy saving promotions. In with the new out with the old mentality. Please just give a thought as to how all our out of date stuff is disposed of plus the distribution and advertising costs of the new.

A lot of that is probably thanks to the UofEA CRU leaked emails and FoI scandal from last year. I get the feeling that mess has turned a lot of people off environmental issues in general as well as climate ones.

Pity really, as some very serious issues are on much firmer footing than anthropogenic climate change/global warming and really don't deserve a dip in public support as a result of the actions of people in a very specialist and uncertain area.
