I stopped buying papers a while back.
Why bother when I can switch on the telly for the news, or search the internet. And you lot all keep me up to date with what is going on too.
If a grape recommends an offer then I will take a look.

Well, working-class origins Guardian reader that I am, I still would rather have an empty border than read the DM. So that's me then.

You can generalise all you like but people will read what they feel comfortable with.
And you can offer all the free bulbs you like and some people will still not buy your paper. Here endeth today's lesson!

Well, if the countrys second best selling paper is an outlet for the BNP it doesnt say much for our country does it?

But then the 2008, Guardian columnist Jackie Ashley claimed that the Guardian editorial contributors were a mix of "left-of-centre libertarians, greens, Blairites, Brownites, Labourite but less enthusiastic Brownites, etc" and that the newspaper was "clearly left of centre and vaguely progressive".

Surely then the Guardian verges on the Stazi, thinly politically correctly veiled of course as socialism as this government chips away at your freedoms.

I never read the editorials. I decide for myself what to think.

I don't read the DM because I think it 'otherises' any person or group that doesn't fit with their white, middle-class male ideals, and seems to take pleasure in doing so.

Me as well Flum, I like to think living in a democratic society we can be allowed to say what we feel without upsetting the masses, but the bleeding hearts of politisions won't allow that, especially now there all fighting for our vote. Sorry if that sounds a little politicly incorrect.

Nah, I am ok, I just resent people being pigeon holed in the same way that people proffess the DM pigeon holes people. Stinks of double standards to me especially as they supposedly dont read it.

I consider myself fairly well educated and am capable of understanding debate and the slant of editorials and am capable of sifting political manouvering from news. I do tend to read the times but must say the guardian does have good sports coverage. The BNP as nasty as they are and indeed stories from some of the aforementioned papers only get the support they do because the liberal chattering class refuse to allow debate and the common man on the street looks for somebody who will listen to their views.

I would join in this debate but these bl**dy organic hemp knickers keep giving me wedgies...

I'm very firmly with Sarz though, the DM demonises anyone 'other', thereby pandering to the fears and insecurities of a large section of the population and exacerbating division and misunderstanding. And they do it purely to make money.
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

And so that means that anyone who reads the Daily Mail isnt an
"other" and means they read and believe everything that is printed, unable to make up their own mind? Sorry, I just dont accept that.
And all papers are there to make money, just ask Mr Murdoch ...or Mr Black.

Ahh but there is the rub, do people buy it because they are braying racists who are intolerant to anybody who are "other", or because the establishment has totally stiffled debate with the threat of being branted an "otherist" if you try to raise a concern about the social engineering being undertaken by the current administration.

The market is only there because large swathes of the population are marginalised.
