There were suscipicions among forum members that the Daily Mail £200 plant giveaway had a catch.
The catch is every plant order requires £3.99 for packaging and admin
unfortunately theres no such thing as a free lunch. I suspect most people who rushed out to buy the daily mail (hands up I was one of those) had their suspisions that it would have strings attached somewhere along the line.
there is ALWAYS a post and packing charge with free seeds/bulbs, whoever the offer is with. 200 bulbs for four quid doesn't sound like much of a rip-off, imo
I agree that doesn't sound like a rip off, but that's not the offer. Offer are limited per day, todays best offer is 70 summer bulbs (FREE) with £3.99 P&P and Admin. The remaining so called £200 FREE offer is made available in installments throughout the week. So you have to pay 8Op for the damn paper and then £3.99 for postage and packing for each daily FREE offer. To me FREE is no longer a responable description for what the Daily Mail is offering - bandits!
Well, If you believe what the Mail says isn't sensationalized out of all proportion....Rather have a bare border than buy their loo-paper.....mind you could always ask my Mother who for some reason still buys it....She's beyond hope
Yes I admit I rushed and bought the paper thinking goody free stuff. Should've realised there would be p&p . All I can say is B&Q 75 Dutch Iris bulbs £3.98. Wilkinsons or the Range is therefore probably cheaper .
No contest.
S*d the housework I have a lottie to dig a batch of jam is always an act of creation ..Christine Ferber
To be fair, it's not just the Daily Mail. At this time of year most of the papers and magazines are offering "free" seeds, plants and bulbs. And they all charge for postage and packing.

My mum does too - occaisionally pick it up when I'm there and then wish I hadn't when my anger levels at the sensationalist reporting reach fever pitch.
Re bulbs / plant offers, I find that offers like that are never as good as they seem, it's very rare that I would want all the items in the offer and the quality is often not that great.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
I got the paper as well, expecting to pay P&P but it is the way the offer is set, buying the paper all week and sending off at different stages that gets me. It doesnt really seem to be a good enough offer.
