I've gone away from this thread three times now before I could bring myself to reply.

Organic, I think you need to change your user-name to "Tangent-Man". What on earth has a debate about the relative merits of certain newspapers got to do with the war or the national debt?! Are you trying to say that newspapers aren't political in any way? Or are you trying to say that the people having this debate don't care about politics? Perhaps you think that we all are incapable of understanding politics because we're talking about newspapers? I don't know, you certainly have me totally bemused.

Remind me the next time you fancy having a debate about anything at all to come along and remind you about the national debt in the middle of it, and query why you aren't currently waving placards outside Downing Street...

Some of the posts on this thread are thoughtful and make for an interesting debate. Others cannot resist making mean-spirited and inflammatory remarks about people who read the 'wrong' newspaper. Bit unnecessary. It would make more comfortable reading to stick to the papers themselves and not the poor saps who buy the 'wrong' one.

If the people who read the 'wrong' paper are such mindless drones, then just quietly pity them in their supposed ignorance. Works for me.

I think this sums it up.

There are people of this world who are never happier than when stirring things up just for a reaction - some of them write for certain newspapers, others walk among us.

I think for the sake of all our sanity/dignity I'll shut this thread down and let the dust settle.

Now, lets all take deep breaths, count to 10 and go read the morning's paper - whatever it may be.

It's Monday morning, the sun's shining (well, it is here anyways).

Lets be thankful we live in a society that allows us to chose whatever paper we read - for whatever reasons, and that the news/articles - whilt not to everyone's taste, is at least varied.
