Thank you peeps- this is my first ever Mother's Day with both my kids and my mom over in the UK.
First time I can recall that I'm not cooking a spesh meal for the family- so it does seem rather strange.
OH has stepped in and presented breakfast in bed for the 3rd morning in a row (cooked me bacon and eggs) and is cooking me a spesh meal tonight ( one of our cockerels from the freezer.

I'm not into the commercial side of these days, but see no harm in stopping and thinking about special moment we have shared with our own mothers ( step, or foster) which bring a smile to our faces.

I'll never, ever forget my mother stepping into a cow pat in opentoed sandals when I was about 5- she was wearing Lily of the Valley talc and had white sandals with piccies of lily of the valley on the fabric lining.
Anyone else have special, fun memories of their mother???

                Thank you Jeanied,

my boy is too young to understand, but they helped me yesterday in the allotment as a mother's day gift.

Also, today makes me think about my angelbaby again:

                "What Makes a Mother"
                by Jennifer Wasik

I thought of you and closed my eyes
                And prayed to God today.
I asked what makes a Mother
And I know I heard him say...

                A mother has a baby
                This we know is true.
But, God, can you be a mother
when your baby is not with you?

                Yes, you can He replied,
                With confidence in His voice.
                I give many women babies
When they leave is not their choice.

Some I send for a lifetime,
And others just for a day.
And some I send to feel your womb,
But there's no need to stay.

I just don't understand this God,
                I want my baby here.
He took a breath and cleared His throat
And then I saw a tear.

I wish I could show you
What your child is doing today.
If you could see your child smile
                With other children and say:

"We go to earth to learn our lessons
Of love and life and fear.
My mommy loved me oh so much
I got to come straight here.

I feel so lucky to have a mom
Who has so much love for me.
I learned my lessons very quickly,
                My mommy set me free.

I miss my mommy Oh so much,
                But I visit every day.
                When she goes to sleep
On her pillow is where I lay.

I stroke her hair and kiss her cheek
And I whisper in her ear.
                Mommy don't be sad today,
I'm your baby and I'm here."

So, you see my dear sweet one,
                Your children are not blue.
Your babies are here in MY home,
They'll be at Heaven's gate waiting for you.

So now you see what makes a mother,
It's the feeling in your heart.
It's the love you had so much of,
                Right from the very start.

Though some on earth may not realize you are a mother,
                Until their time is done.
They'll be up here with Me one day,
And they'll know you were the best one!

I soooo miss my Mum and think of her every single day, sometimes ' what would mum say' or 'what would mum do' in certain situations, we knew we were loved every single moment of every single day. She lived to the ripe old age of 92 even though she had such a hard life being in care from about 1917 but she had a really good ' mother' in the home she was in who taught her so much.
Love you Mum you were simply the best.

My youngest is really poorly today, ill through the night and my lovely planned lie in with a cuppa ended at 5.30 when I was up changing his bed.

Have had to cancel our lunch out, but have re-booked it for next week when hopefully we can all enjoy it and it will be less busy so service will be quicker anyway.

All my planned jobs to do have gone out of the window, as have little one sitting on me all day. Did manage to nip and see my mum and nan, while he snoozed on OH, but left their card here, was tired and not thinking straight.

This Mother'sDay is all about my little boy needing his mummy

The cuddles are lovely, but hard to type onehanded. Just hope ge gets bettersoon.

Happy Mothers Day to all you 'needed' mummies today

Happy Mother's day to all the mums, step mums and foster mums, as well as to those whose mums are no longer around and to those who, for any reason, would have liked to have been a mum but aren't.

I got breakfast in bed and a pressie (luke warm crumpets and a jar of sweets but it's the thought that counts! ).
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

Had a great day at my mums and about to sit and check they've done their homework.....and I guess I best make sure they have clean uniform for the morning.

Can somebody go to the Cemetery in Upminster, Essex please and make sure the stake through my mother's heart is still in place, long gone and not missed at all?

But to all those Mums and their littlies of whatever age, I hope you've had a really good, caring and lovely day.

myself and my sister visited mam today and brought flowers and cards. She didn't know us, didn't know about the flowers or cards and told us she never sees her daughters at all and if we saw them would we tell them she was looking for them.
she is coming up to 92, has acute alzheimers and is in a nursing home for the past two years.
She was just the best mother and its so sad to see her like that.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.
