What crackers you are - keeping me sane and smiling

Welfare Officers aren't what they used to be, they don't have the 'power' over the Housing bods anymore. They (MOD) sold off the housing contract to the Housing Agency (no idea what they are called today cos they change often!) and then the MOD re-lease the houses back from them but don't have any say over how things are run.

It isn't a case of NO garden - just tiny garden, which is why I feel bad for sulking, but am still doing so

Thanks for the Lottie site Crosby, I have emailed the Clerk to the Parish earlier this morning. I have everything crossed that he will come good (but I've heard there are country-wide waiting lists ) and I get a lottie and all with be (almost) well.

Re the Hangars Wayne - Snowdrop has earmarked the only one that hasn't been sold off (!!) for the Harley until we get a garage, if ever we do

Just got this reply from Henlow Lotties:
Dear Suzie - At present we have 16 on the waiting list. Priority is given to residents of Henlow parish, so you could go to the top of the waiting list. When are you moving, and where to?

Oooh I wonder how long it takes once one is 'top of the list'! How nice that he replied so quickly

        Noooo!

*gets in the corner with Piskie and does a solidarity sulk

I'm just wondering if there is someone with a bigger garden who doesn't care for gardening who might let you borrow/use it in exchange for some fresh veg. I know it's hard to believe but some peeps don't like gardening.

Failing that, put all your tools in a van and bring them over - you can keep them in the barn (once I've cleared it out a bit )

No worries, they may even have someone who could help store your tools until a plot is available.

It's a nice village/small town and I'm sure they will welcoming, just make sure you protect yourselves against the rabbits .

Sounds like a mega sulk wouldn't hurt lass! However, the news sounds pretty good on the lottie front. Give him your moving date - there might be one ready for you! Our paying-up date is March so by April the bloke knows if any are being given up.

OH MY!! OH MY!! I have to share this with you right away...

This is what I said to his email above:
                Dear Bert

Thank you so much for your quick response. We are moving up to Henlow in the last week of April, I am currently de-erecting my greenhouse, cold-frames etc for storage.

My husband serves with the Royal Air Force so we will be living near to the base. Gardening helps keep me sane when he gets shipped out to Afghan and other such places, but sadly the property they have issued us is tiny.

                And this is his reply:
Dear Suzie - I have a vacancy at present which I'll keep for you. Let me have your contact details and I'll send info to you. Wishing you, and your husband especially - with tremendous thanks, all the very best for the future.

Stand down everyone, as you were.

It seems the latest diplomatic crisis has been averted and Nucleoid war has been saved for another day.

Great news piskie - I'm confident to say you must be chuffed to pieces.

                          Oh my!!!!

                          That is sooooo fantastic!!!
Are you able to go over and look at it this week- with a view to a return visit with a van ( might be easier to take it yourselves ahead of time and 'claim' the plot( ie get the key)- and get an idea of what needs doing when you finally arrive?)

I'm really chuffed for you piskie...who would have thought this to be the outcome when you woke up this morning not a happy bunny!

What would you be renting- something like a
                                Ford Transit 350 Luton??

You can hire them for about £70 per day

You could leave the greenhouse panels and shed sides intact-as they are a decent size...and plenty of floor space for pots and tubs!

( this is what we hired for our house move...lots of trips to storage and one return trip to France)
