  • Driving to an English library in France, where you can just take books out and never give them back if you dont want to, and then having a cold drink in a lovely little resto with M and Mme Nicos and Mme Pastis, muchos brilliant.
Sorry we couldnt stay but hope your pizza was good, our meal was OK but would have rather stayed with you.

            • I had to search for ages for this thread, I hope that doesnt mean we're all turning into a bunch of grumpy buggers.

              What makes me happy?
Coming home after a pretty stressful day at work, various nonsense occured but without serious aftermath, and finding that the bloke who lives opposite, who went on holiday in the morning, had left me about 2lb of fresh dates as a thank you for watering his plants whilst he's away.

              I luuurrrvvvveeee fresh dates.

And (cos I'm really happy today) realising that tomorrow afternoon I am off work, and so will be able to watch the critical stage of le tour live on my tv, as these monsters of men climb back up the Tourmalet.

              Happy boy indeed.

Ooh, I might join you! Not in the physical sense you understand!

I'm happy - I've just ordered a new phone and it's manufacturers are the same initials as my boys. I've just booked the car in for a service (and I don't have to worry about the money at this juncture). The sun is shining and I'm sat in the office wearing 3/4 lengths (my new favourite ones), t-shirt and Crocs.

                Brill.

                • My brother and his wife visiting at the weekend, and most of my children and grandchildren turning up for an impromptu picnic in the garden. Perfect weather, enough food (just about) homemade ginger beer and elderflower fizz (squash for the kids). A good day was had by all.

                  • Whilst disappointed that the ginger cat toby required vets treatment for a huge abcess on his head through fighting would keep me away from Madame Hippocampus today, the realisation that seeing her tomorrow will be all the more sweet for it was some recompense..

Also just had an email from daughter to say that she, her OH and my son are coming over for a couple of weeks in August.
