As a follow on to yesterday's post in the rant thread, what makes me happy is...
Having a wonderful bloke who has not only stood by me in my one woman campaign to stop selfish and lazy parents putting childrens lives at risk by parking on the yellow zig zags outside school but has also organised a traffic warden to be at the gates today (how amazing that all those people who had 'nowhere else to park' or were certain that 'parking here is fine' suddenly found somewhere else to put their cars ) got the council to agree to repaint the faded road markings and obtained the personal phone number of our local policeman, who we can now phone everytime we see people parking there (and we will!).
Thankyou PW xxI was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

Nice one PW!!!
Draughting up a letter for your mum who had a huge tax bill when the tax people didn't calculate her income properly 5 years ago; saying that she had paid the first installment under duress and that they had all the information available at the time and quoting the legalese that stated that if it was their fault they should write it off as she was now retired and this meant she had no money to live off for 6 months.....and finding out today that they have not only written it off but are paying back her overpayment from the same period!!!
Result!
As the refund is going to pay for a trip to Oz to see her brother before he dies....so she can now relax about paying for it at last.

Yesterday was son's wedding anniversary. He asked me (assisted by his Dad) to do a surprise supper at his place, after a day out together (the 4 of us). and all went pretty well!
DiL was startled to get home and find the house full of cookery smells and thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing. I love making other people happy!Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

I was made redundant in July 2009, and the company my partner worked for went insolvent at the end of last month (without being able to pay their employees the paycheque due the next day!). I don't think I've had a good night's sleep over the last year because I've been so concerned about finances and being a burden to him.
Today I was offered a 2 month temp role, and 10 minutes later, my partner was offered a 3 month contract! They're only temporary positions but it's such a weight off my shoulders, especially as his contract has a really good daily rate that will keep us going for a while after the contracts end if we continue to be as frugal as we have been the last year and a half.
Phew! I suspect I will sleep well tonight.
