If the Vine was a real place, what would it look like?

I think it would look like my house.

Great big place with loads of people all popping in and out of different rooms and places, all drinking tea/coffee/wine/pastis and generally enjoying life.

(Should this ever become reality please all of you feel free to do any gardening you see fit).

Yay - you could organise us all into work parties Bob and we can sort it out in no time flat!
Just switched the TV on its showing Harry Potter- I think the Vine might have a passing resemblance to Hogwarts from time to time!

Often during University holidays I'd go back and stay at my parents'. I remember several times the three of us would decide to have a barbecue and set everything up ready.
Then my brother would turn up unexpectedly with a car full of friends and we'd set a few more places at the table, then my step-brother would turn up and some of my mates would come round.
In an instant a barbecue for 3 would turn into a barbecue party for 12. Everyone would muck in, we'd have a great big catch-up, lots of drinking, laughing, sharing stories. Everyone talking to anyone even if they'd never met before and even those who'd never been round before were made to feel welcome.
These dos would always ended up going on into the early hours and have always been up there with my favourite summer memories.

That's the vine for me. A barbecue where everyone is welcome, the more the merrier. Everyone gets on, and anyone talks to anyone. No matter what the conversation, there's always an expert somewhere and you always end up having more fun than you expected.

I think of the vine as a warm and friendly place to be. Okay some people may beg to differ on some subjects but even so are there to offer support for whatever reasons. It's a great big community where everyone can pop in and out at will for a cuppa ( or something stronger) a bite to eat and a good ol' natter.

I always think of the vine when I see that advert on the tv (cant remember what its for, perhaps some sort of fabric softener) where the women pull up on a train and go down the slide through the flowers into a beautiful field in the countryside. Perhaps tea and cakes aswell oh and the cheese and marmite bread mentioned on the chat thread

I too have never really thought of the Vine as a place - though some of the descriptions posted sound just the sort of place I'd love to be able to go. - I'm liking the "Trumpton" senario!
I just like to imagine you all out there, doing your thing, checking up on the chat, saying, "Ooh, must add my two-penneth to that subject! (like I do).

I'm another one who had never pictured the Vine as an actual place. But I do have mental pictures of many people, and on past experience, I know they're all going to be wrong!

That said, now I've put some thought into it, I'd guess Becki's right 'The Gardeners' Rest' is probably the nearest we're gonna get!

I'm imagining the candy garden inside Willy Wonkas chocolate factory (Gene Wilder 1971 version)
but i'm not going to mention who the umpa lumpas would be

Incidentally did you know how badly Umpa Lumpas age

Heres the proof that not everything improves as they get older
