  • Does anyone take supplements?

So many out there!! Whatever you maybe deprived of there is some pharmaceutical telling you they have the answer. How the hell do we know what we are missing and what is the 'cure' all for all our hangups. A bottle of red seems to cure all mine how about you?

I used to, esp. when I was recovering from cancer. LOADS of vitamins, Co-Q, glucosamine etc.

I was spending a fortune, but didn't notice any difference

We both used to take Glucosamine Sulphate to ease joint aches and pains - it makes a big difference. Haven't bought any recently, really should get some more.

Snap - but I have to split the tablet because it makes me feel sick if I take the dose all at once.

Another good supplement for women is evening primrose - I had a breast scan and the radiologist asked me if I was taking it and advised me to double the dose as it is so helpful for any form of tenderness or pain.
Thought that was an interesting recommendation.

You can get all the vitamins you need from a healthy diet that includes the fresh fruit and veg we are all growing.

As my lot have been so ill since xmas I have just stared giving the children and OH multivitamins. It can help to absorb food better for the children the pharmacist told me and they need building up again.
I take garlic tablets vitamin C and echinea when I feel a tingly nose coming on, and have just started taking folic acid again for when baby no 3 (hopefully) comes along soon.

Every day without fail, and ever since I stopped drinking a bottle of red a day, (about 2 years ago) I take a multi vitamin + Iron tablet, a glucosamine tablet and a cod liver oil tablet.

Two years ago I had pains in my kidneys, felt listless, creaky knees and regular pains from spondulosis in the shoulder.

Now I feel great, no knee problems, no kidney pains and very little shoulder pain.

Whether my self medication has anything to do with it or not, I don't know, but I sure as hell aint stopping it to find out!

I take, Evening Primrose, Echinacea and Omega 3.

How do I know if it helps me? I don't really - but I very rarely get colds/flu (echinacea), I don't have PMT issues, but did many years ago pre-pill popping days (Evening primrose).

My diet is healthy in that I eat many veg, fruit, lots of fish, not too much red meat etc - so in theory I shouldn't need them, but I have noticed a difference so I continue.

I guess I would aliken it to spiritual views - if you believe it works then it works for you.

I don't at the moment, but have considered evening primrose, cos I have been told they can help balance the hormonal mood swings I'm prone to at certain 'times'

A cod liver oil and a glucosamine sulphate for me in an attempt to keep my worn out joints going a bit longer.

Isn't Green Lipped Mussel supposed to help with aches in the joints?

Cod live oil capsules, echinacea drops and garlic capsules. Don't take them in the summer though as I don't feel that i need them then.
Might be just fooling myself though. (about the summer, I mean)

Daily multi vitamin and mineral tab and Omega 3; they've made a difference to my general health since contracting ME five years ago so I continue with them.
Have just started a three month trial of Serrapeptase; should help to avoid any heart problems and could help the arthritis. Unfortunately neither glucosamine nor chondroitin helped at all.
