on saturday i was with a child who was breaking out with the spots in front of my eyes, i hadn't had any contact with him for a month or so before that........ i've never had it myself, but today i have found myself itching all over and i've found a spot or 2. Would it be 2 early for me to be coming out in spots as all the info i have googled says that there is an incubation period of around 7-14 days. Maybe i haven't got it at all but a lot of people r coming down with this in the area!!!

Best way to know for sure is a quick trip to the doc.
Tell them you think it could be chickenpox too as you may have to wait in a different room to the normal waiting room as its contagious - thats what happened to me when pickle had it anyways
we got shoved in a room out the way while we waited our turn!

I thought children were at their most infectious when they were spotty, so you probably have got it. Are the spots like little blisters? Run for the calomine lotion if they are.Granny on the Game in SheffieldComment

I think it may be a good time to go and see the doc, either for a vaccination or for a preventative dose of antiviral. You usually feel flu-ey first, you think it is something else and then the spots appear.
Not wanting to scare you, I had chickenpox very badly about 6 years ago and nearly died. My rescue was the acyclovir tablets prescribed over the phone for me by the doc and the sweetheart who got the pills to me in time. Even so I was pretty ill for a fortnight and my brain didn't work for ages after. (Some say it never recovered - but that is probably another story).Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?Comment

florence fennel, what i mean is yes i could have it but is it too soon for spots as its only been 4 days? all info i have read says the spots don't appear for 10-14 days after contact.Comment

My daughter had it whilst she was pregnant with my youngest granddaughter and it caused serious problems. Luckily they both made a good recovery. You were very lucky too Jeanie, the effects can be devastating, although it is very rare that they are.Granny on the Game in SheffieldComment

If you do have it can I recommend calomine cream instead of lotion, it's way better, and half a tub of bicarb in the bath to dry the spots up. Worked a treat for my boys.
And can I also say what NUMPTIES my old docs surgery was when my exhusband had it (as an adult) they made him an appt to see the doc, and when he got there it was the mother and baby clinic on, pregnant women and toddlers all over the place, even though we TOLD them he had chicken pox when the appt was made. Fools. So if you do go please mention to them what you think it could be
