how many Grapes in your garden?

Today I was packing up some strawberries for Victoria26 and some nettles for Nerobot.

I was marvelling really, at how many plants I have in my garden that have come from Grapes.

I've got the following (and lots more that I've forgotten)

Rustylady: redcurrants, snowdrops, violets
Stig of the Plot: Canadian Wonder beans
Flummery: peas & beans
Zazen: poppies & beans
Northepaul: Penny Black nemophila
can't remember who: lemon drop chilli
Snadger: Red Epicure broadies

That's just brilliant. It's a great place innit?

..and having recently received my second 'seed swap' parcel, I guess there will be loads more this year - even if I've no idea who they came from!

I've got a grape on my bookshelf (and when the time comes it'll be in the kitchen too) in the shape of The River Cottage Year from northepaul.

No Grapes in my garden, but several on my windowsills thanks to Chilli seed swaps

Blackcurrants from TwoSheds, likewise broad bean, leek and sunflower seeds. Haven't done much swapping really, but TS lives near me so we meet up and exchange things.

I've got lots of Grapes in my garden! Last year I had Flummery's crimson flowered broadies, carrots from elsie-scot and sanjo (in one of my sons beds, his project), celeriac from Jillyreeves, rhubarb from Tricky (there this year obviously, and unfurling beautiful pink buds now), and savoy and chard from Sarzwiz. May have had other too.

This year I've got beans from TwoSheds, lots of different lovely things from Poly and Bramblekiller, cabbage and kale from Trish60, fennel from Janeyo, and my snowman prize carrots from Nicos.

I love the Vine for this wonderful seed swap, and everytime I tend to the plants I think of the kind Grape who gave me them, and it's lovely!

I think it is very special if you can plant your garden with seeds/plants from others. All my relatives do it as well so every time I look at the plant they have given me I think of them and smile.

I've just been sowing beans from your good self and from a mystery Grape who doesn't want to be named [part of the 'expand the beans in the UK' project], some squashes from Red Thorn and SBP, and have many many fine beans, peas, peppers, onions, chillis, squashes, tomatoes and more from Piglet Willie, as well as peas from Flum, and I'm sure many many more to come from Grapes from swaps and SAEs. Flum's Lancs Lad peas are all up and will be going into the main garden either today or over Easter. Plus Black Hungarian Chilis from Alice, and many many fine chilis from all over the place.

What a great network we have here.

[And I am just about to delve properly into the chilli parcel.....this is why we should put our names on the seed packets that we swap!].

Exactly my sentiments

I have to add, just from this week or so, I have just planted some crimson flowered broadies from Ginger Ninger, I am so looking forward to them coming up! I cant forget to mention Kernowyon, who has been really generous with my daughter's growing projects, well above and beyond kindness - Plus Jeanied has donated some seeds too.
I am off to plant out some Borlottis from Sarraceniac this afternoon and sow some fabulous chillis from the chilli parcel....

Its thanks to this place that I get to try all these fab things, and i am really grateful to everyone!!

I also have tons, and would hate to miss anyone out, so would just like to say ta to all who have given me seeds (and knowledge) over the last couple of years, and echo the sentiments that this is virtually a great place to be.

Not so many in the garden but a few on the lottie, thank you all who has given, swapped or traded. I have been a bit lax this year due to work and my knee but fully expect a few seeds to be sent out this autumn, starting with a NZ sweet pea brought home by Kazzi from her brothers garden in Dunedin.

Well I've got Wild Garlic from a kind Grape and for the love of me I can't remember who, JA's and a type of wild leek from Grannymem. Serbian Pole Beans from TS; Egyptian Onions, spare Grushovka toms from Zazen. Tom seeds and chilli seeds from a variety of kind Grapes plus 2 types of Achocha from Flummery and Poly. Have to admit I enjoy swapping so I've not listed everything as I just can't remember.

I have sent 2 sae. As yet the Gold Nugget from Two Sheds and the pumpkin from SMT are waiting to be planted.
I have never seed swapped as I only regard my leftovers from last year to be of no use to anyone. Seeds, generally, are so cheap to come by I normally buy new BUT I had not before considered the association that is highlighted here.
