Oh, I'm so sorry - they leave such a huge gap in your life when they go. I hope you're OK.

Oh WW, I'm SO sorry that she didn't make it. It's awful, and yes the house will be very quiet now she's gone - it was when we lost our old pensioner, Jake. Big hugs to you and yours. Remember the lovely times you had with her.

Oh dear- I've only just read this.
What an awfully sudden thing to happen- it must have been a terrible shock.
Thank goodness she passed away quickly- poor little thing.
Big hugs for you. I lost my cat 18 months ago and I am still reduced to tears when I think about Neo.

Thanks everyone for the replies and hugs. They help a lot.
                        We are still grieving terribly.
On the train home from town today I was getting some odd looks as I tried to fight the tears back!
The house is so quiet without her and I haven't yet been able to pick up her things. Toys and various beds indoors and out, bowls, food, you know the stuff.
Over the Easter holiday I will get it all together and take it down to the dogs' home nearby. It was where we got her from.

Please don't close your mind to a dog- shaped hole in your life when you visit the rescue centre. I met a beautiful, gentle greyhound from the dogs' trust on Sunday - adopted by fellow lottie holder.

Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

My sympathies. We had a Jack Russell Terrier when I was a boy, and were all sad when he died. Now we have a pointer, about 15 months old and we're already very fond of him
We all know that dogs have a relatively short life, and can see when they're getting old and likely to die naturally or have to be put down, but it doesn't make it any easier. Our vet reckons about 80% of owners cry when their pets die, and the're all embarrassed and apologise
