Looking for a new springer Spaniel..

Have a look at South Yorkshire English Springer Spaniel Rescue (www.syessr.co.uk) they are wonderful and have provided both my Spaniels. They are flexible on working arrangements as the majority of them work and have multiple Springers. It might be worth a look at their site and giving them a ring as they often have little ones in waiting that don't make it to the site.Last edited by Sprocket*; 31-03-2010, 07:06 PM.Karen

It's getting really difficult to find a puppy nowadays. I want a lab/collie cross. I want a puppy not an adult rescue dog with problems. The last two I had I got through Exchange & Mart. There doesn't seem to be an equivalent internet alternative to this. The only places I can find are rescue centres or people who breed pure bred breeds. Where do the others go?"I prefer rogues to imbeciles as they sometimes take a rest" (Alexander Dumas)

I appreciate your wants and requirements and you are fully entitled to these, I don't have a problem with that, but I have to take issue with the above statement.
We got Penny from the RSPCA. She was 2-3 years old, she was picked up wandering the streets in Kirkby.
She didn't have "problems".
She slotted right into our family, which at the time consisted of 2 children ages 3 & 5, and a cat.
She was the most amazing, loving, adorable dog and if I do ever get over her loss at the ripe old age of 16, I will definitely go for an adult rescue dog
Please don't assume that because they are in a rescue centre that they have problems.Last edited by weekendwellies; 01-04-2010, 12:31 AM.

I was married to a farmer. One of the most distressing things of living in/on a farm was that come a holiday period was the dogs that were abandoned. I suspect that the original owners thought that the local farmer would take pity on their pet and take them in. Farmers can't do that. There are too many of them. It's extraordinary that they should put this guilt on other people."I prefer rogues to imbeciles as they sometimes take a rest" (Alexander Dumas)

Have you tried the shooting community Dan?...There were forever adverts in the field, shooting times etc. years back...I don't ever read them these days. I don't know if you know a gamekeeper/picker-up to ask they tend to know lots of folk. As you said in your OP they are often working gundogs....some are not that good at their job etc. worth a search I'd say...good luck with the litter on Friday.Last edited by Paulottie; 01-04-2010, 09:14 AM.

Sorry about your lost danmon.
We found our Lab in a shooting magazine and couldn't be more pleased with her.
Have you considered pet food stores we have one "Welland Valley Feeds" who advertise puppies for sale. Not much good for you up there but maybe you have an similar store. It sells dog, cat and horse food etc. Mainly working dogs as most of the customers are Farmers and horse owners.
Good luck tomorrow.Growing vegetables and flowers to share.
