My sis and her family are supposed to be driving down today... she'll turn back if she has to, but this is obviously exactly what happened at Christmas (she ended up getting hugely expensive last minute flights on Christmas Eve). We don't get to see her much, so REALLY hope conditions have improved, but we'll see.

Hope all is well with the northern types, saw it on the news this morning over here.

Much better today, dry and partly sunny but still with the cold wind. Still hoping to get up the plot at the weekend or at least Monday or Tuesday, if only to tidy up a bit so as to make the most of the good weather when it comes.

Here's hoping for a change in the weather for the last week of the hols!
        Hi!

Thanks for asking everybody. I was thinking of our Irish grapes too.

We've been fairly lucky, although where I work in Westhill the ground's still covered with snow. But I'm in Aberdeen too, so what Plot10 said! Except my plot's on low-lying ground near the bank of the dis-used Deeside railway line. And I feel the cold even when others don't.

I've been working stupid hours, so couldn't have made it to the plot anyhow. BUT...

...there was a bonus award at work and I feel a (metal because of Little Treasures setting fires) shed, greenhouse and maybe even a few raised beds coming on! And at least the black plastic sheeting stayed in place all winter so, hopefully, it'll be comparatively easy to get 4 beds dug if the weather ever changes.

I seem to have been lucky and missed the worst of the snow - did have some ferocious winds and sleet (and sustained more damage to my tunnel cover - this is rapidly becoming an annual event ). However, was at work in the forest when the worst of it was with us so missed it as the trees sheltered me good style.

The snow is not the problem it's the gales on our bit of coast that are doing the damage.I've got salt spray on my windows and we live a mile from the sea!

It's not so bad up here-I think south of Scotland got the most of it this time.

Hi all, and thank you for the concerns....we had snow pretty much all day yesterday but thankfully it came down pretty wet where we are. The main A96 road about 4 miles north of here was closed all day yesterday and most of today and lots of other roads are closed too. Couldn't believe it when I went into Aberdeen today and there wasn't a drop of snow to be seen! Luckily our power has stayed on all the time (lots of flickering but stayed on), but lots of friends further east have been off for over a day. Birds and squirrels are being fed well, so they're all pretty happy. Hoping that's the last of it now...and to think...this time last year we were sitting in shorts sipping wine on the patio! Oh, how I love Scotland.... Hope everyone else is safe and warm...

Yes. It seemed to disappear in about an hour!

Hope everyone's back to normal now.

Phew! Glad to hear you're ALL doing OK and apologies to my Irish Grape Cousins for omitting you from my original inquiry - nothing personal - our local news was a little bias to start with

Still, most glad that all is well for everyone.

Hubby and I left for Glasgow on the 7.45am coach on Wednesday (no point trying to drive and just as well). Coach got to the summit of Rannoch Moor and we got stuck due to eejits trying to drive wee dinky BMWs with rubbish tyres through snow drifts and blocking the roads. Road got cleared of eejits and their cars and then we got through. Minute we hit Tyndrum the road is clear - hint to Highland Council get the snow ploughs out earlier, Stirling Council got their roads clear. We had to stay in Glasgow on Wednesday night cause we were informed by friends the snow ploughs still had not been out. On a good note we stayed at the Holiday Inn - the bed was devine (even better than my own bed), disabled bathroom was brill and had underfloor heating - nae cauld feet. Oh and to top it off there was air conditioning - we slept like babies
